Nah, that thing will never make it mate...

I've had a couple so far & lets just say they make you smile, thats for sure

But don't worry NachaLuva, it will happen for you one day.
And trust me, when it does, you'll have the biggest smile you've ever had :raz:

Been there and done that on a rocky hill climb. The GQ patrol that went up just before me smashed his sump in and had oil pouring out. I got up with only abit of burnt clutch.

One day I'll make it over west in my Subie...its definitely one place I'll be heading :iconwink:

You won't regret it! And make sure to call when your coming over! :)

Great pics Sarge!

We spent 3 nights beach camping along Yeagarup beach earlier this year and its amazing down on the coast. I was in my stock 2011 forester apart from AT duelers, with a troopy, 4.2 patrol, and a cherokee. You were wise to turn back at that steep descent. When we were leaving coming up that hill, there were people having all sorts of trouble. The troopy and I got up first go (mind you I was on 8 psi and only just made it up around that bend at the top). Could easily get stuck there for awhile especially if it gets rutted out from people ripping it up.

I copped a few smart remarks from a 4wd club that was coming up the dunes at the same time as us. However we had the last laugh sitting up the top of that hill (beer in hand) as they struggled to get up 3rd and 4th attempts in their $70k rigs. Was priceless!

You will have the biggest smile you've ever had, trick is trying to hide it so you don't raz up the "big boys" too much :poke:

Cheers

great trip report
went there in 09 with the "nanna" subaru club around Easter time so the sand was quite soft. We did go all the way to the beach, and the monster hill coming back up was challenging for the N/A 2L but my wife (with almost zero offroad experience) made it up first go, much to the astonishment of the heavy 4WDs who needed several goes. My car had stock tyres and suspension but the 200kw modded turbo engine helped :) It was great seeing ladies in their 50s and 60s making it up the hill in their stock Fozzies while the machomen in their big rigs watched with their jaws on the ground.

Certainly will so we can all head out to some dunes. I'll also have to try the Mandaring powerlines track you guys talk about so much

Haha great story (and welcome BTW)!!

Yeah, I guess the only reason we stopped there is because we had no phone reception and so wouldn't have been able to call those 4WD's to come get us out. :) I find those A/T Duelers to be excellent tyres, I really like the way they bag out and they really love the sand!

I'll also have to try the Mandaring powerlines track you guys talk about so much

For sure, it won't disappoint!

^ Yep, they are my first set of tyres from the original set, but I think I've picked a winner! Hesitant to try any other tyre as I'm so happy with the performance of the D697's. Good to hear you happy with them too... Haven't heard/seen many other people with them on here... maybe they don't know what their missing out on... :raspberry:

How much do you pay for them (215/65 16). Best I've found so far is $209 each.

Hey Rally,

For my 205's I paid $180/tyre, so $720 for a set of four at a local tyre shop around about the time they came out.

That's not a bad price if AUD. $209 for 215s that is.

Retailers have woken up to the fact that folks can import cheaply from the US - mind you the lower exchange rate has shifted that equation.

My first set of AT LT were Dueller 693. The tread was more like HT than AT but they did the job on two outback trips.

In Vic both of those are 7mm oversize re the placard and so illegal.

If you have a bingle and the assessor is on the ball you're in the pooh.

I've not found assessors on the ball but YMMV.

That's a great price Sarge! Where did you get them? I got slugged $220 when I got mine as I didn't have tme to shop around. Be good to know a well priced place for future.

Mundaring Tyre Centre, 8 Morilla Road. Fair way for you to drive though!
