My bad service experience !!!

It's too easy with these tick and flick sheets to skip through a sheet in 10 secs flat, and then just deny anything once the car has left the premises.

You must be pretty fed up with that Mr T, especially when you have trusted then with some major jobs!!
You've got that right :furious:
And you know whats worse.... I actually went out one a limb & recommended this :censored::censored::censored: to others :madred:  :madred:

Hope you have better luck from now on!!

Some real horror stories here, not just MrT's. Hope it works out for you...
You're not wrong mate
And thanks again guys :)

Thats so true.

Anyway, I'll be writing my letter of complaint tonight & handing it to them in person tomorrow on my way home from work :Bananacomputer:
I'll also be giving their "Small token to show our appreciation for your custom" back to them & saying that I'm sorry, but that just doesn't cut it etc, etc, etc, to get by business back.

I also have a little something else in mind for them too  but mums the word on that one, as I don't want to let the cat out of the bag, if you know what I mean :lildevil:

Regards
Mr Turbo

If Ross ever stops being in business for any reason, I would have no qualms going to him, or Mentone Subaru, for that matter.

G'day Ratbag,

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but my experience with Inchcape dealers is not great...

Mentone Subaru once serviced my car and it needed a new solenoid on the transmission - the one that locks reverse when the car is moving forward. Well, they did the repair, presumably, but not only it made no difference at all, they forgot to re-plug the lights for the gear leaver positions. Pretty basic and simple stuff, I reckon. Took it back, changed again, but no better, so just gave up on them for good.

Similar type of stupid lack of attention/care stuff from Docklands STI and Doncaster...

Pedro.

No worries, Pedro

On the few occasions I have needed their help, MS have been terrific. However, I also have the feeling that apprentice didn't do it ....

SWMBO's Fox was sold and serviced by Subaru Doncaster. I note that they recommended doing the brakes at the 48,000 kms service ... Here it is at 71,000 kms, and still 25+% service life left in them. Speaks for itself, really. Brighton Holden aren't the only crooks in the game ... :(

MS pulled the brakes to bits, and miked everything. For $70, can't complain about that. I saw the service docket on the way past. The price written on that was $165 ... Sensible business decision on their part, perhaps?

Sorry to hear about your experience Mr Turbo. I've changed service locations now for the MY05 and shortly, the MY09 to a place that know their way around Foresters. In fact, they even built this one:

But seriously, they were excellent when I took the 05 there in September last year. Had the timing belt service done. My car is going back there this week, and the '09 is now due for a service and will be going there as well.

Glad to hear you managed to find another mechanic though.

^ interesting that they are running with a windscreen ad for ECB but don't have a bullbar!

Anyways, glad you guys are happy with your new service workshops.

Who's the new mechanic Damo? My old Forester, now dad's, needs a new clutch and I don't have the time or really the space for a job like that. Just called the local dealer and was quoted $1661 supply and fit. Maybe I'm out of touch but that seems high. Last clutch I did in my MX-5, admittedly a while ago, cost me about $800 for a complete Exedy kit plus a lightened 2 piece flywheel.

I use Lucas Automotive in Moorabbin and have done for 10years for the services i and mechanical repairs i dont do myself. I have never had anything to beef about, and hes always treated me fine price wise and service wise, his forte is Subarus and he only uses genuine parts unless you tell him otherwise.

To get exhausts done i go to an exhaust pro, brakes to a brakes pro, tyres from a tyre dealer, and i have never been to a dealership in my life, i have worked at a couple and thats enough for me.

G'day again Tone

We feel the same about Ross Hallett at the Kingston Road Bosch Service Centre, Heatherton. Has never overcharged us (usually less than what I was expecting - sometimes considerably less); work done perfectly (never, ever, had to take anything back ... ); he has been looking after our cars since the mid to late-1990s. An honest, decent person.

Jarvis Subaru.

Dead alternator was replaced under warrantee but these guys tried to replace it with an el cheapo Aussie recon and failed to get it recognized by the CPU over 4 times. Finally borrowed a clients Outback alternator while waiting for a part and got mine going. OEM alternator came in 3 weeks later and was swapped out. Wanted my old one back for testing more like to flog it, but I said I had already disposed of it. Actually I got it reconned and have it in the spares box.

These guys said I could take the car home even with their dead alternator in a hope to blame me for its failure. I said NO, you keep the car until you fix it.

Also they found all these other things to change over saying that the OBDII had said so. I produced my own OBDII history and said NO cause they were only advisories...

Jarvis, what out for massive overcharging!

While their are some great dealerships out there who do everything by the book, there's also some incompetent ones, also some straight out dodgy ones...I think these guys fall into the last category! :shake::huh:

I've had a Ford dealership (Etheridge Ford) put 2 wrong size tyres on & refuse to admit they were wrong until I took him out to the car & showed him what were on it & the ones he put on. He also replaced the 2 new tyres on the same side of the car instead of the same axle, so under heavy braking esp in the wet it would have pulled sharply to the right! :shake::huh::yell::furious::furious::furious:

NachaLuva, you post reminds me of a Toyota Dealership I dealt with once.
It was when I bought my brand new Celica :bcool:

I bought & paid for a 6 speed manual (which needed to be ordered in)
But when it arrived it seemed to be missing a couple of gears & a clutch pedal

The moron's ended up ordering (& sending over) an auto instead of the manual didn't they :shake::shake:

Once it arrived, the dip-stick sales guy I was dealing with, tried to sell that one to me instead
He said they were virtually identical & that there wasn't much of a difference :shake:

Stealerships..

If they buy it it has to be el cheapo non OEM, if I have to buy it it has to be OEM new. That's why it 's best to just supply your own parts and fluids right from the start, except under warranty.

I also have a little something else in mind for them too  but mums the word on that one, as I don't want to let the cat out of the bag, if you know what I mean :lildevil:

Mr T, did you ever get to deliver your little surprise package to them?

Curious as to what you delivered to them.

Mr T, did you ever get to deliver your little surprise package to them?
No mate I didn't.
As to what I was going to do, well lets just say i was going to loosen something & see if they found it. Nothing major, (a sway bar link nut perhaps ??) but something they should notice if they were doing their job properly :iconwink:

Anyway, I decided not to go ahead with it. Why should I waste my time (& $$$) etc.
I figured, by finding another mechanic, it would hurt them more :eviltoyou:
Anyway, they rang me today  to inform me that my Forry was due for a service  They also asked me as to why I hadn't been back to have it done by them :shake:

So I politely told them that the last time they touched my car, they stuffed up big time:furious:
I also told them, in no uncertain terms, that there's no way in hell they'd be getting any where near my Forry, or touching it ever again !! Full stop !!
And I'd found a new mechanic :)

It was then, for some reason, the person who rang me went really, really quiet

Anyway, all I can say is it's their loss, not mine.

Regards
Mr Turbo
