My car was on the lift last friday and i did the test, turning the rear left wheel by hand and all 4 wheels turned the same way (i have a helical lsd in the front). Did the same with the front left wheel, same result.
The vlsd on the SG (and others i presume) is not in the middle of the diff, its on the left side and is diff oil proof because it has its own silicon based oil. The casing is quite small and has just a few plates in it, some driven by the housing (crown) of the diff and the others by the side where the left shaft comes out of the diff.
