09 SH FXT - new to forester offroad.

Wonder what it is about the TC system that kills them on sand.

Sand is one place where all four wheels can lose traction equally, and simultaneously, as a matter of course.

Seriously slippery mud uphill can do the same of course.
And let's not talk about seriously slippery mud downhill ... (Bunyip SP Jan 2012 ... ).

Just some of the reasons why I prefer DR/MT and some sort of LSD, on the rear, at least.

Well I've had the tracing of the plates all of about 2hrs and I've already got the pipe cut, and I'm about to take the drawings into the local engineering shop to get them cut out of 5mm plate.
I thought about cutting them with an oxy and grinder but for repeat ability and neatness I cant be bothered, not to mention it would probably take me 2 hrs by the time I clean them up and get them neat by hand, it will probably take them 20 min to cut them on the water jet.:monkeydance:

one thing bothers me tho, THAT STUPID SIDEWAYS BUSH ON THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM grrr stupid Daewoo design that was always a total failure...

Hey brumbyboy, i see subaru run a heim joint on the my11+ STI in place of the rear front lower control arm bush. sure you could buy them to replace the bush. otherwise whiteline also make one.

Hi Biesel, no progress yet, waiting for the local engineering shop to cut the plates out on their water jet, they are also folding up a rear coil tower brace for my patrol. Hopefully ill have it all this week some time and have them fab'd over the weekend.

I don't believe the STI pillow ball fits the standard arm. I've put up a thread in the suspension section.

I had a call from the engineering shop on Friday, "your plates are ready" so I went down there and they had cut them out of 10mm plate:lol:
Hopefully they will be recutting them out of 4mm tomorrow and I can finally get these lift blocks fab'd this week.

Guess what showed up today...

They messed up and cut them out of 10mm plate so he gave them to me as freebies. He also cut the proper ones out of 4mm plate for me too. Hopefully I can get these knocked up this weekend and maybe even test fitted.

Any suggestions on what to do with the 10mm ones?

So it seems I messed up, I used a drawing for the SF/SG front plates and it appears they are bigger in the SH so these front plates don't fit. Lucky I test fitted them before I fabricated the lift blocks. If I make them up does anyone want a front pair of 50mm strut spacers to suit SF/SG?

Sorry to hear mate, guess i should have drawn up the fronts as well. I just like you assumed it was all the same. Hope the rears worked out ok.

Yea was was hoping you'd have sent me the fronts too but no biggie, I assumed they were the same to, without checking. Oh well asumptions are the mother of all f*ck ups.

Looks like its back to the water jet tomorrow.

Oh well asumptions are the mother of all f*ck ups.

Your not wrong there!! It'll be good to see an SH with 50mm of lift :lildevil: I'm still thinking I need more in my SF and I got around 5" of total lift...

I would of assumed the front would be the same too. The Outbacks and Foresters are from years 96 till around 2007/2008....
