Just fitted it all up, think it's more of an issue if you lower them. just wanting on primitive to finish their big bore extended drop rear shocks.

well it took 1 month minus a day to finally have in my hot little hands ......

installed (almost) power switch installed...just have the mode button to install (allows a dim setting and a strobe setting) as well as the highbeam wiring

pretty happy with it so far, need to fine tune the angle but other than that its super bright....thats about it.... its incredibly llllooooooow profile, tough construction. cant wait to really try it out

Beaut machine Biesel - you've given folks plenty to think about, for sure.

A question up-thread you might have missed. How do you find the diesel in slow going without a low range transmission? How's the gearing? Is first low enough to get along at a slow walking pace with no throttle?

Cheers and enjoy your adventures, eh.

Never had a problem going up something the engine seems quite happy to drive up even very steep inclines at about 1000-1100rpm. But first gives no where near enough eengine braking for down hill.

Might try the air con trick next time for declines next time! It can rev at 800-900 ok but still to fast for declines!

Declines

Yep - the stock low range in the manual X is too 'fast' for steep declines, too. Nor is it low enough for slow, high rev inclines. It's a real shame. The Forester is a most capable little jigger and proper low range would really be the trick.

The Bar and light looks the goods Biesel..

I thought the auto foresters had a lower 1st gear than the manuals. and they also have Active Torque Split, The new X-Mode system sound like it could be a good thing too..

I know my Auto is pretty good offroad..

well i can report that the air-con trick does add a little breaking but is super noisey haha

in other news....slight mod finished today:

ordered 3/8" spacers today to go on the 1" blocks. should give around a 35mm lift total.

Looking pretty sweeeet there Biesel....

Let us know how the 3/8" spacers go. I've been trying to get info on whether the HDPE spacers stack well on top of the alloy spacers.

By the way - looks like your model can swim as well! I recall there was a post on ORS (or sf.org) about a poor bugger who hydrolocked his Forry 2.0D in only 40 or 50cm of water and killed it. It didn't seem right. Good to see the diesels are just as happy in water as all the previous models.

he didn't hydrolock it. got water in the wrong sensor and car died. taking any modern vehicle into water is a risk. even though they weather proof the connectors only takes one faulty seal.

the company that made my 1inch aluminum blocks also makes the poly ones they assume me it's not an issue.

Ahh - good to hear it wasn't hydolockage. Nothing worse than hearing of catastrophic failure.

So, you are referring to "Primitive" for the aluminium and poly blocks right?

no i got my lift blocks from subtle, the car was written off by his insurance so end result was the same either way.
