Self leveling for HID lights.

That's the perfect size. Wouldn't go any larger for the Forester headlight units.

My friend has an XT, same generation as yours and his has got factory HIDs in them. You could always buy a set from a wrecker. Although they may charge an arm and a leg for them...
 
They're E55 merc replica shrouds but I can't find the 3" hella evo x projectors with a RHD cutoff shield, I might have to go for something with a 2.5" lense unfortunately.
