"Subarufalia" car-camping thread

^ A few things just crossed my mind (short trip ... ).

Best not to go there, methinks ... :poke: :lildevil: :rotfl:

I'm worried the torsional shear on the roof racks would be a lot!

What about some supporting strut poles and guy ropes (blue)?

My first worry about that photo was the extreme angle the car was parked at. Check the "level" water in the background.

With roof-top tents what sort of racks do folks use on a Forester? With two people, bedding/etc, a wet tent, plus wind, that's a lot of load (as well as shear) for the racks to carry.

Nah! That's called water skiing, looks like he finally found that sloping lake..

EJ, you sure have a lot of gear...kitchen sink included? :rotfl:

Looks like a great camp for the family

Thank you Mr. Turbo :)
I hope that pictures are pretty self-explanatory, if not, and if I find some time, I can translate it to English. Anyway, if I upgrade my “expedition” Forester I will post some pictures or add new link to Polish Subaru forum. I anybody have any questions I will be more than happy to answer it.

Thanks, Pio.

It's getting "cooler" by the day ;). Lots of work!

Had a quick look at the post you referenced on my phone, but need to look at it on my computer.

Both good shelters

Here's mine from the Loop Track in the Gammon Ranges

An added bonus was using my UV torch to watch the scorpions all around the campsite :)

^ Very nice photo, NL.

Glad that you got to indulge in scorpion spotting ....

I am fascinated by their behaviour, as you know. However, folks, don't ever let anyone tell you that Australian scorpions are not poisonous - as the Victorian Poisons Centre told me many years ago! More here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpion#Sting_and_venom

And here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buthidae

Scorpions are a very ancient group of arthropods, dating back about 430 million years. During this time, all the continents on the planet have coalesced and broken up again a number of times, spreading scorpions to all modern continents (except Antarctica). They are all related, and all poisonous - not necessarily to humans, but this should not be taken as a given. It is my understanding that all scorpions have venom that includes neurotoxins, and I have been the recipient of a sting from one down near Apollo Bay that put me in hospital for several days.

More info here:

It's one reason why I always wear foot wear, even in the house ...

Looks like we are all running pretty sweet, lightweight set ups. Mine is almost a hybrid of the last two.

Here is a photo from a recent escape. Stay tuned for the trip report, I am writing it up this weekend so it'll be ready in a day or two.
