You should install the front skid yourself if you have a socket set, they're easy to do.

Nice looking forester!
Thanks that will safe me about 50 $
How about rear skid plate ? Can i do that by myself?

Good on you, Tempo, for getting lift blocks and skid plates right away!

Congrats on starting your journal, Tempo.

I agree with Bob, any fool can fit the sump guard and diff guard using a basic set of sockets, rings and open end spanners.

Follow the instructions. It's easier than making a cup of coffee each for ten people :iconwink: !

The lift blocks are a different kettle of fish altogether. You need to know what you are doing, and need a spring compressor AND know how to safely use it.

You also need chassis stands, if you don't want your son to be an orphan before his time.

NEVER work under anything that is supported ONLY by a jack, no matter what kind.

And don't save money if you ever buy chassis stands. Buy the best quality adjustable ones you can get. Take someone with you who knows about such things - e.g. send me the airline ticket, and I will come to the store with you ... .

Never use chassis stands except on a (very) solid, flat surface; handbrake hard on (that's the handbrake remember ... ) and with the wheels properly chocked in both directions.

Working on cars can be great fun, and very safe - just so long as you work safely ...
AND keep Number One son well away from the action, unless supervised by another responsible adult ...

Your Forry looks great, really like the colour too

Thats some very good advice there Ratbag.
As you say, you can never be too careful :iconwink:

With the fitting of the skid plates, they are very easy to do. There's nothing to them mate.
All up, they should only take you about 10-15mins each to do, if that.

As for the strut top lift, it's not all that hard, but can be a little tricky, even if you have the right tools (spring compressors etc).
However, if your not confident, it would be best left to the professionals.
And don't forget to get a wheel alignment once they're fitted :)

Mr Turbo

I'm sure you would be able to fit the bash plates easily enough, but I would suggest you get the lift blocks fitted proffesionally unless you know someone whos done it before who can help you. Not hard, but you need some knowledge.

+1 on the wheel alignment...without it start saving for new tyres!

Ok Guys thank you all for good advices!
I will do skid plates by myself and lift kit in professional shop
Do you think i will need aligment after installing lift spacers?

Yes.

Unless you have a fetish about spending vast amounts of money on new tyres every five minutes or so ... :iconwink:  :rotfl: .

A full 4 wheel wheel alignment is essential.

I installed my front skid plate, haven't installed my rear one yet... I had a heck of a time with the front, only because the car is 7 years old, and been subjected to a lot of canadian winter time road salt. Sheared off one of the bolts, and then spend a TON of time trying to get the sheared bolt off. This shouldn't be a problem with you, given that your foz is way younger than my 05!

So its a good idea to do all upgrades when its stil clean and fresh, and no need to fight with rust salt and dirt

Definitely not a bad idea! :) The threaded holes on mine were really gross, I had to "retap" them with a high grade bolt before the new hardware would screw in nicely. Canadian cars don't degrade peacefully though, we're salt happy; I imagine yours will be a piece of cake.

When you do it, you'll see why we're urging you to do so yourself, it's really an easy job, and you can save your cash.

Not only that, it also give you some great satisfaction of being able to say
"yes I did it myself"
And with the extra cash you save, you know what that means.........more mods :raz:

Looks more than strangely familiar ...

Haven't yet uploaded any pics of SWMBO's new baby. Maybe at the w/e, or next week.

Nice set of wheels, mate. ENJOY! :)

Looks good, a bit of lift always gives the Foz a nice look, not just makes it better offroad. That bash plate looks like it gives exc protection, even at the sides :monkeydance:
