Biggest tire

Question to the blokes on 215/70/R16...

Did you guys have to modify anything to make the tyres fit? Do you need cosmetic modifications on the wheel wells? Maybe longer struts?

I'm just finishing my current tyres and hopefully will go ATR... But so far I only had the 215/65/R16 in mind...

By the way, I've got a Forester MY07 XT

Thanks guys!

Not sure about a MY07 Forry, but if you take a look at this post by spinners who fitted some new boots (215/70/160) to his MY05 it may give you a better understanding of how close the tyres are to rubbing etc in that size.

New Cooper ATR shoes for the Forester (

Hope this helps.

215/65/16 on my '03. When I wear out this round of general grabber at2s you better believe i'm getting the grinder out and going with 215/75/15s. Hell my current rims are all busted up and bent, you should see the wheel weights they have on their to keep them balanced...

I have a GT forester and have 215/70/16s. When i first put them on they did rub slightly on the rear springplates but only on full compression when the springplates would flex down onto the tyre. This was no big issue.
I have since lifted the springplate up the strut by 40mm. Did this for two reasons.
1. to give more room for larger tyres!!
2. To put some more preload on the springs as the back would bottom out real easy b4. They dont rub anywhere on the bodywork but i also have a 40mm strut lift.
Cheers

How did you move the spring plate up the strut? Any photo's?

Carefully!!

I just cut them off and rewelded them back on again where i wanted them. And yes the shocks still work fine. I was aware of where the piston would be and kept it as cool as possible. I really did this as i wanted to keep the same spring rate but wanted more up travel. Not sure if its coz mine is a GT or if it had sagged heaps but it would hit bump stops on the street with 4 ppl.

Can get pics if wanted.

I made adjustable spring plates for my Lifted Legacy wagon but have sold that car.
cheers

Dear all

Finaylli, I test the new tire (Pirelli str 215/55 r 17)

until now, it is not rub anywhere

I feel few slow, but the extra height is worth

On the road i feel more unbalancing but is acceptable.

In off road, I do not use many kilometers, but at the momment is acceptable

Now I need to try disconnecting the Swaybar

Here some pictures of my first travel with these tire
