Maxtrax vs snatch strap

BREAD CRATES girls, they are way longer, you get two tracks out of each one.

AHHHHH see I found mine on the side of a lonely track in the middle of nowhere, the sides were crushed so not of any use to TipTop ;) but you could try your local bakery as I'm sure they have stacks of them out the back, never know, the nice baker might even give you matching colours.

Well I'm heading up to stockton in an hours time so will be giving the maxtrax something to do hopefully! Comparing the maxtrax against ur milk crates.... Different ball game, the maxtrax look like they wouldn't actually break, or bend under the weight of the car as it drove up them. So sure milk crates might work in some situations but they certainly look no good for long term/ difficult drive outs. The maxies are insanely solid.

I'll be taking my camera gear, and I'll make this one kinda like a Subaru/Maxtrax promotional. See if I can get it on the Maxtrax website 😃

Ok I'm chilling out in my camp chair in front of a warm fire, here on Stockton. Thought id report in on the trip :) maxtraxs saved my donkey 5 times, 1 where I was seriously bogged and sitting on the base of the car. Some digging and a maxtrax moment later and we were out of there. Nearly killed the car against a hidden metal pole at the base of a dune. Think the go pro was running so I'll get to relive that hectic moment of my life again.

Took on some serious step dunes and managed to get up them and down them with about 4k rpm in first. Pretty amazing I felt, what this car managed to do! Clearance wasnt really an issue, only a couple of tracks did I do a bit of plowing but wasn't an issue really.

Did notice u have to pick ur spots to stop as its easy to dig in, on the really soft and deep stuff down south. Anyways looking forward to putting together a vid with some of the footage we shot!

But in summary. Maxtrax = quick self recovery = awesome!

Its on sand I reckon Subies really show their talent. Its amazing what they can do :monkeydance:

Its important to roll to a stop in sand, not brake which just digs the wheels in

I would love some but until I can afford it I reckon I'll have to make some "CrateTrax" lol :)

PS: when you get a chance, add a signature in your profile so we can see at a glance what you drive ;)

Ricker that reminds me of when I hit a concrete block that someone put in the sand. It was before I got the lift in my car and when your in some fo the deeper tracks on the beach the centre of the car is very close to the ground (30mm or so). I did have a crappy 2mm ali sumpguard on which got smashed in and the sump of the engine was also smashed in. Was a costly repair to say the least :(

Can't wait to see the vid/s mate!

Showing here, SB

Could be a problem at your end ... :(

Hi Ricker, your photos aren't showing in either post

Nice pics showing what can happen on the soft side of dunes ..

Glad the Maxxtrax got you out. Flaming long way to the nearest tree ... :rotfl:

Interesting. Yes it must be a problem at my end. There are no pictures showing in Safari or Firefox. I only know they are there because the links show in the email notification. They just don't go anywhere. Bloody Apple Macs!

Don't start me on the latter ... :iconwink:

I have been in the IT industry since before there was one (as such ... ). I only fix Apples when I cannot get out of it; or when Apple can't ...

They poop me when there's an incompatibility such as the one I've just encountered but I personally would never use anything else than a Mac if I could.... unfortunately I have to use a pc at work. But yes let's not get started on this one. I'm pretty sure that Israel and Palestine will come to a compromise long before pc and mac users settle their differences!
