215/65R16 or 215/75R16

Thank you for the precise answer, how simple is swapping from SF struts to SG?

If you don't know how to swap suspension then you best not do it yourself without help. Personally I'd say it's easy and you could do the rears (don't need to do the front), put in heavy duty springs and 1" or 2" or higher lift blocks while your at it in a few hours with the right tools.

I have 225/70R15 and they rub with SF struts. I have 70mm blocks with raised springs in the back of my 2001 Forester too :lildevil:

Be aware that going quite a few sizes larger in tyres will affect your performance and fuel economy.. It can make a huge difference, added weight and the size means the motor has to work harder to get upto speed and too maintain speed. I reckon it has take over 1/3 of my performance or more away from my Foz. This is comparing stock size road tyres on suabru alloys rims to heavy big offroad tyres on steel rims...
It is just something to consider, but the bigger tyres do go much better offroad :iconwink:

Remove the interior trim piece, three nuts on the top, remove the clip for the brake line and bend out the tabs. Undo two bolts holding the strut to the hub and out it comes (be carefull of abs line if fitted). You will need spring compressors if the SG struts are not fitted with springs.

I'm pretty sure that's it. My 225/70/R16 clear the spring perch by 1.5mm. Remember tyres actual sizes vary from brand to brand, mine are procomp. I had to beat the wheel wells to eliminate most of the rubbing on my SG. I'd put 215/70/R16 on to make things easier if I had my time over.
