First there were five, then four, then three!

The day started ominously. We were waiting for beigewagon at the Longwarry servo. We glanced across the freeway to see him parked on the side of the road with a car behind, the front pushed back to the "A" pillar!

An hour later, he joined us to tell us of an accident he stopped at to render assistance. Fortunately he wasnt involved but being in the CFA, he felt obliged to help. Good Samaritan act behind us, we set off for what we were sure would be wet and treacherous clay tracks :lildevil:

We soon arrived at our first track, Birrell Tr, a nice easy stroll:

Matt likes to check out his articulation :rotfl:

We all got through here, dcoutback doing particularly well in his stock Outback, although he did manage to extend the crack in his rear skirt. I'm sure his 1st mod (trimmingthe bumper) will soon be on the way lol :iconwink:

We then made it up Robertson Ck Tr until the ruts got too big & chewed up. A nice shot of the 5 cars:

Beigewagon in his L, a Suzuki ringin, FozzyMatt in his Foz, dcoutback in his Outback, yours truly in his Foz.

A toyota left a souvenir :rotfl:

We turned around, which was fun in itself lol, and set off for our next track.

Misfortune awaited!

We made our way to Tea Tree Tr. The convoy stopped behind a big 4WD. As we got out to inspect th track, we were greeted with massive ruts, mud, washouts and bog holes. We were going no further.
It was here we found a split CV boot on dcoutback. A cut up garbage bag and a few cable ties later (& some mild burns lol), we decided this was a good time for lunch. A quick play in a few holes, we then said goodbye to dcoutback. Having spewed out a fair bit of grease, incl onto the hot exhaust, discretion was definitely a wise course of action considering the difficulty we were having on the "easy" stuff!

5 became 4! :(

We then started up Western Tr. After only about 500m, beigewagon, who was leading, dropped a wheel into a small hole on the far side of an erosion hump, hitting the bullbar on the far side. Although he didnt hit hard, it was enough to push the bullbar back into the radiator which jumped off the support on one side, hitting the fan. Only minor damage, but we had to remove the fan to prevent more damage. There was a very slight coolant leak, and without the main fan and a long steep climb ahead, beigewagon decided it was his time to say goodbye.

We were down to 3! :(

We continued up Western Tr. It was very steep, interrupted by the much loved erosion humps, with a few extra slippery & steep sections where I put out the call over the CB: "MOMENTUM NEEDED!" We finally made it up to the top and gave the Suzuki's smoking clutch a much needed rest.

We decided to head along Gentle Annie Tr so we could have a look at the infamous Phasmid Tr. Sounded fair enough...

We discovered Gentle Annie wasn't so gentle! :rotfl:

At the top was a series of rock steps, with diagonal holes. I decided I would see how far I could go and chose a line between a rock mound and a large boulder over a step. After several attempts, some much needed guiding and a decent amount of revs and momentum, I made it up the step to receive shouts of "STOP!". I slammed on the brakes a foot short of a 3' step. I now did a 5 point 90' turn to cross the track for the next step, only to be confronted by 2 heavily modded fourbies "cruising" down.

I let them pass, smiling at their confused looks. I was sitting square across the track halfway up, so I'm not surprised lol. I bet it was the 1st time they've seen a Subie there haha :rotfl:

With a little bit of tyre spinning on a diagonal step, I made it up the next hurdle. There was a chicken run I was aiming for, which I was doing easily enough till the top and a large hole. A few goes later and I was up, with only a much easier section above!

I nailed Gentle Annie!

As time was slipping away...it had taken some time for one car to make it up, we decided we needed to get going. Time to turn around and head back down...

It was a fairly uneventful drive out to Bunyip Rd, then we headed back to the servo. A quick photo shoot of a pretty beat up wombat on the way:

The survivors

I'm pretty keen to head back some time. I would love to complete Gentle Annie. Apparently the far side was just as bad, but I think this may be part of the big fourbie mindset, trying to scare us off lol. Little do they know.... :rotfl:

And of course the Phasmid Tr awaits.... :lildevil::monkeydance:

Many thanks to beigewagon for his local knowledge. I hope both his and dcoutback's damage weren't too severe and we can all head back again sometime soon

Is Matt's red foz lifted? Looks like it has muddy tyres too?

I think just raised springs plus larger tyres. Yep, tyres are Coopers and pretty chunky :lildevil:

Shame we ran out of time cos I would've loved to have seen him nail gentle Annie too :monkeydance:

Glad I wasn't there ... :iconwink: :rotfl:

Looks like real "let's bash the living bejasus out of someone's precious car" type territory to me ... :( :shake:

Hey Taza

Thats what a 4WD's ment for :lildevil: Just thrash your way through revving the hell out of the car :rotfl:

Even though we can afford to thrash the hell out of a $20,000+ asset, we didn't get to that financial position by burning stuff all our lives ... :iconwink: .

There was a little bit of scraping on the belly, it sounded awful but was slow and gentle. I wouldn't thrash my baby :shake:

I'm sure others who have seen me at Robe and Walhalla will attest, I'm pretty gentle on her. The biggest issue here was the boulder on the left going up that 1st step...I knew it was gonna be close but I think I only had inches as the rear of the car slid a little going over.

Thats a great pic mate.
And yes, I'd have a go at it :iconwink:  (I think )

It looks very similar to a little hill we attempted & made it up, a couple of years ago

I'd give that a shot. I would probably go to the left or far right to tackle it

As said sorry to hear about the damage but atleast you were able to get the car home Beigewagon.
