Was going home from the office tonight when a deer jumped out in front of me, stopped, then jumped straight up as i was hitting it..It flew about 30ft into a ditch on the side of the road where it lay mangled and twitching. I felt horrible for the deer as this was one of the few times i wasn't carrying my handgun. I could've put it out of it's misery right then, but couldn't.
It missed my bumper completely, but smashed my hella's, the grill and my hood in. Fortunately, it still latches, so i can drive it until i find a body shop i want to take it to. Poor Rooo, breaks my heart to see her like this :(

It snapped the top clips of the radiator loose, but the metal going across the front is somewhat wedged over it holding it in place. Luckily there's no leaks as far as i can tell. Yet....

Not good. Time for a front bar perhaps?

ive had some very poor luck with deer too! im on my 4th plastic bumper and have replaced my hood once and both front lights once. Have hit a total of 7 deer in the last 2 years (I do lots of nighttime driving :lildevil:) the deer usually end up running away. I think they run towards my lights lol

Sure could've been alot worse! Really surprised that the hood can still open and close/latch. Had this been my wifes Corolla, we would be looking at alot more damage no doubt.

Sorry to hear but atleast you could still drive home. Could of been much worse and atleast everything is still functional!

Glad your alright Matt, at least the deer didn't end up in the front seat with you. I'm going to assume that your properly insured for such an incident???

Hope everything gets patched up quickly.:)

Gidday Matt

That's rotten luck mate.

Could have been MUCH worse. People have been killed in Oz by Roos coming through the windscreen ...

One of our property ("ranch", in US-speak ... ) managers hit a roo in the station ute (property pickup ... ) and ended up with the gearbox under the rear tray ... It wrote off the vehicle. He was uninjured, fortunately.

Glad that you are OK, if somewhat shaken up, I'll bet!

damn ru if u were in denver /colorado id point u towards a great body guy . im sad for ure subi too . but glad no one got hurt . hope you get things all patched up .

Thanks fellas. Yeah i plan to get her fixed up in the next week or so. Goin to take her around to a few body shops to see what they say. One of my clients locally has a paint & body shop so they may be first on the list. Seems living out here in the hill country though, it's only a matter of time before you hit one. Considering the usual damage i see from other people hittin deer, i must admit i am impressed with how well she's held up!

Funny you asked as i meant to update this. I had it in the shop for a day when i thought of just looking up the hood and bracket myself. Turns out i can pick up a new (primed) hood and that bracket fir right at $300. Considering my deductible was $500 (thought i had it at $250!), i realized i could get it fixed for cheaper and not pay increased insurance costs for the next 5yrs having a AFA (at fault accident), so im going that route. Since that's the case & the hood is still working, i'm taking my time on it. I might even wait til we move since i have gone into this super $aving mode making sure we get to Colorado without a hitch!

Sorry to hear of poor Rooo....Sounds like she held up amazingly well! As the deer jumped, you're so lucky you didnt wear it through the windscreen

Glad to hear you can fix it without getting the insur co involved :)

And glad you're OK!

Hell, if it's not a frickin deer messin up the forry, it's my inlaws!!! :yell: She backed into my rear quarter panel this afternoon. Just another reason women don't need to be driving full sized trucks..

She's gettin all beat to hell as of late :shake:
