2012 CB discussion

i have one the new 80 channel UHF radio's that i scored for only $100! brand new worth $700 love it! i socred it though my father inlaw who works for a company that installs radios.
i also have it set up for max power :raspberry:

Great find!!!

Whats the improvement in max power?

My Uniden 80 channel is almost as clear as a telephone where as the old 40 channels are pretty hard to understand if your ont used to them.

I just have an angled bracket from from the passengers side near the hinge on the bonnet. Does the job but will be mounted to the bullbar when that comes along.

Probably not wise to post this sort of confidential info on the web ... :iconwink:

Yeah, I understand 25 w is illegal

done, i got the radio due to the company had ordered to many in, so therefore they were left over and were basically just giving them away.
25w is illegal unless you have a license to carry it. just means better signal over a slightly larger distance, nothing to major, however if someone is to close say 10m you are unable to talk with 25w as the signal shoots straight over them

I have a Quansheng TGK4AT I bought years ago as my first UHF.
5W, rugged and cheap ($70). I thought it would die after a year or 2 as it was cheap and from ebay but it's been great 5 years later, so much so I bought another.
No probs with the 40 to 80 channel changes as it's fully programmable.
Accessories cheap and plentiful on ebay such as external antenna, car chargers.
It's been dropped on concrete and sand and still going strong.

Can't complain about that lefty

Sounds like a good buy to me :raz:

Regards
Mr Turbo

I should add a warning to those looking to buy the Quansheng . The ones from overseas only go up to 470mhz so do not cover Aussie CB frequencies.
This may or may not be able to be modified but we won't go into that here...
