Subaru Gearboxes. All Drive Subaroo

yeah but on WRX forums and those guys usually put their gear through different testing procedures than we do.

ie: 6000rpm launches

PS. Venoms H6 beast sure goes well dosen't it!

My box is handling the torque of the h6 pushing through 3.7 diff ratio. On that basis i don't see any reason to be concerned about a properly built gearbox surviving for people who take care of their car.

In that vid my rear clutch lsd is old, propably very worn and not really doing its job. Should have rebuilt it first in hindsight.

I'd recommend a front geared lsd, 12kg centre, lowest low range you can get, diff ratio to match your tyre size of choice, and definitely source a rear lsd. Get a totally stock clutch, i'm using a 2.2 clutch with zero issus.

To my mind if you want to keep your car legalwithin mod guidelines but a beast offroad then that drivetrain is the end goal, maybe will rear locker if it becomes available.

yes- and they pay the price. If you have a turbo Subaru you take big risks with hard launches with a 5 speed. Even those these guys are based in Sydney, they are not mentioned on our club's forum one way or the other.

Although Venom pushes his car pretty hard in some situations (I wont soon forget Mt Cole :lildevil:) he doesnt thrash it. IE, no big launches etc. If his box can survive what he's done behind a H6 then with some "mechanical empathy" yours will too.

OH yeah baby :lildevil:

Now...just to find the dollars... ;)

My bug will have one (or is that two) when I get around to it.

Helps with steering tank style too - I've had trouble getting the front end to make its way back up the beach away from the water.

I guess you'd need four in an awd unless you had a stronger centre LSD.

I think bluefox has a youtube vid of a proof of concept.

The hadnbrake is only on the rear wheels in a newer Subie so a 4 way wouldn't work. Plus I don't think it would help too much if your trying to do a hill climb, only if you get diagnal spin and get stuck.

Shouldn't be a problem after I get a call back from all drive Subaroo!
Bugger it I'll call them Monday morning again.
