The Grey Fox.

G'day all, I thOught I'd start a build thread just to just to prevent my progress posts from stinking up the forum.

For those that dont know I picked up a 2Oo7 xs forester in Sydney and have driven it back to Perth, picking up and fitting eBay gold along the way.

I've arrived home to my building site of a home (floor sanding and painting) and can't even see, let alone repair my PC so you will have to wait for pictures.

So far in the 2 weeks since we met I've added a bullbar, sump guard, diff guard, UHF, GPS, engle, rooftop tent, awning and strutbrace.

Next on the list are headers, 1" blocks, rear sway bar/links/disconnects, driving lights, ATs, hitch, real low range, stereo gear and extra 12V sockets.

I'd also like to install the factory climate control or rig up a throttle position A/C cutout and remove the hill hold as advised.

Pics and reviews of the gear to come.

Cheers,

Seanan.

Sounds good Seanan! My MY'03 has TPS A/C cutout (with climate control) so yours probably has it too. I wouldn't bother installing the climate control as it doesn't work all that well

Thanks Kevin but I'm pretty sure it (mine) doesn't. Foot buried in fifth I could feel a huge difference when I turned A/C off.

Switching at the base of hills allowed the cruise control to maintain within 2 kph of set speed. Not switching I could lose 5 kph.

I must have pressed the "turbo" button a few hundred times.

I used to call the a/c switch my "supercharger" switch in Roo1 ... ;)

The climate control switches the a/c off automatically. Works great.

Thats a good set of mods you have there so far mate. Together with a decent set of km's driven too since you've got your new (to you) Forry :raz:

Looking forward to seeing some pics, once you've recovered from your long journey home :)

Glad you are all home safely, mate; and that you are generally pleased with your new car.

Glad you've made it safely home!!!

Great that you have accomplished so much with the new Foz along the way.

Top effort getting all of that sorted as well as picking up the vehicle on your trip over east!

I hope it looks after you for many years to come! I'm sure it will!!

Cheers

I managed to get away from the reno for an hour or two today and head up to the local pine forest.

I had a bit of fun playing around with the handling (first awd car) and was very happy with the balance of the car, so much so that the rear swaybar upgrade has moved down on my mod list. I managed to get some awesome oversteer in 2nd and 3L, sometimes with a little use of the handbrake.

Though some big woops I managed to bend my sump guard and push my roobar back and somewhere along the way my left front guard inner parted company bending my guard and cracking the paint so I'll be lifting sooner than I had planned I think.

Still I'm very happy with the ability of the car and made it through some really deep boggy sand without getting stuck.

A bit of a mixed bag of an adventure.

Anyone running without front guard inners?

^ Great to know you had a good time mate, wish I could of come along.

I didn't finish work till 7  :yell: It was a stressful weekend of nearly all work.
But we will defernately have to head out there another time. Oh and find time for the supercharger
Got any pics of your afternoon?

To post pics, just copy & paste the IMG code which appears where you host your pics.
It should look a little something like this (without the space after the /IMG)

Hope this helps :)

By the way I fixed your last post so the pic now shows :)

Great pics. Good to see you have mastered that.
Now for practice at inserting appropriate paragraph spacing, LOL! :iconwink:  :rotfl:

Learning to post pics took me about 3 months, way back when ... , but then I also had to set up my web site and gallery, and brush up on my Unix skills (ugh! I loathe Unix ... ).

How well did the GPS unit work in the great wide outdoors?

Thanks mate, only too happy to help

Great pics stilson :)

In the 1st pic, is that a white XV Subi I can see parked next to you ??
