Lift option...

I reckon one of the biggest shortcomings of our subarus is the lack of shock absorber options. If you're serious about carrying weight your shocks need to be rated to match and so do your springs. So there's lots of people making do with lots of different load requirements and 1 choice of shock and only a few choices of springs.

I'm currently trying to work out an airbag strut setup for the L series as the last big touring trip we did I really need the extra spring rate in the rear - air bag is the only decent way to do it to cover all situations. Problem is finding a set for the L series that won't cost the earth :(

Surely there's a way of modifying the SLS to work in heavy duty/load applications.

It seems like the obvious soluton as its designed to combat the exact problem we have of varying load.

I'm not in any way an expert on suspension but I'm going to look into it before I go any furthe than a strut top lift.

I agree 100%

Over the years I've formed the opinion that I don't trust airbags; I've seen some that have been sucessful but others that just fail at the wrong time e.g. in the middle of the Simpson. The air bag also concentrates load bearing at one point and has often been blamed for bending the chassis on large 4WDs.

I think I'm aware of the load bearing issue you're talking about - I have looked at an air bag setup on the swing arm but I'm not happy with it as I think it'll try and pry the K frame off the vehicle - what I'm wanting to do is get a steup that replaces the stock spring over the strut. There are units available for the prelude/civic which I reckon would fit, I just need to find out if they'll lower the vehicle or are a standard height replacement unit. A spare or two wouldn't be hard to carry, just the cost would be an issue...

Whats everyone think?
Im thinking this kind of lift but with 1inch extra in the rear.
Total 5" in the rear inculding tyres and 4" in the front...
this has 4" all round with tyres!

Taza, who's forester is that? I swear it used to live just around the corner from me, in Tassie, and went up for sale about 2 months ago.

It used to be a Perth members on here, then sold and now forsale again. I just found it on Gumtree when I had abit of a search. Its a nice foz, just needs a front bar
