Damaged Tyre

My opinion is that they will not pay up but I hope you prove me wrong.

I also believe that one must gauge where they can and can't fit their vehicle.

A truck would struggle to fit down my driveway and if someone tried to drive one down and crashed into my fence I certainly wouldn't be paying for their repairs.

Is it a 2WD or 4WD car? I didn't see anywhere to say what the car was. If it is 2WD, get a cheapy of the same size (I find GT Radials good cheap tyres) and stick it on the non-driven set of wheels. Keep identical tyres on the driven set though.

I hope I'm (NOT) restarting the argument but... [EDIT: oh my gosh I mean NOT restarting the argument!!!!!! :O sorry!]
I've driven through a fair few drive throughs (in 2 countries) and I've done some pretty silly stuff, like forgetting I was towing a 16ft trailer! :D
I've run over kerbs, hit potholes at speed and someone driving in my car (Chrysler Neon) on a dirt road, ran over a tree stump pretty hard.... none of these things did this to a tyre.
I'm going with either tyre defect or low tyre pressure. Caused from a misjudgment, yes I think nearly any car could make that (driving a 35ft bus tends to give you perspective) but that is some serious warping.... I mean how fast can you go in a drive through wreckless or not??? Think about it, what's the biggest bump you've hit on a regular road and done nothing but hasten your next wheel alignment?
In regards to getting the council to pay... go for it, at the very least I hope you get them to start using those angled curbs instead of the 90deg ones... but I hope you get something out of it!

Thanks Species, I hassled the manager some more yesterday, he'd been a bit slow to get back to me after he'd been on holidays.

I'm sure she was going slowly, she's not the type to go fast or carelessly. I recently hit a gutter pretty hard with no damage (missed seeing a small gutter between 2 large driveways...oops) but I have 70 profile ATs, hers are 50 profile street tyres...much less forgiving.

Phizinza, its a '09 Ford G6, she wouldnt want to have different tyres on it.

Got it fixed other day for $320 incl 4 wheel alignment
