Beigewagons Rear End

The donor bar as we begin its transformation. This bar was originally off a Toyota 75 Series Landcruiser tray.

After we cut it down to Subaru size.

and after we added new brackets to begin mount it with.

The tabs as the side, slide into the original bumper mounting points.

The lower / inner flat bars, will eventually mount up to original towbar mounting points. In all, it will be held in place with 12 high tensile bolts, instead of the original tow bars 8 bolts.

I didnt take any pics of how we made the facia for the rear bar. I got too involved and forgot about the pics. The facia is 1.5mm steel sheet folded to give the size and shape we wanted for the look of the rear bumper.

The sides/corners were made piece by piece, and welded and ground, and hand filed to finish of before painting.

The big hole is to fit over the Hayman Reece towbar receiver.

Another test fit to see how it is lining up, and how it looks.

Time to make one part out of two.

Feel free to ask any Q's and I will try to answer them. I built this about 2 years ago.

That's absolutely amazing....you're a real McGuyver aren't ya?

I'm so hopeless with tools & stuff. One day I aspire to have my own workshop so I can teach myself all the skills required to be a proper man :-)

Thanks for posting that!

Tweaksta,

I cannot weld, so I had a mate do that. He also did the fine cutting of the steel for the angles. I did the finish off parts, grinding back welds, hand filing, drilling, adding the extras, as well as the idea of how I wanted it to look and function.

Cheers beigewagon!

I am currently in the planning stage of something very similar to this for the foz....

Just need to find someone with a workshop I can use.
