Before and After

This idea is from another forum but thought it was a good idea.
Before and after shots of your car. How you first got it and how it is now.

Not long after after I bought the car in the year 2000.

We dont have the green system here, one P for three years, mature drivers only need to display them for 1. What can I say, I got my licence late in life! :p

Looks so different now, pity its broken :mad:

Oh ok. Bit different system to here now in WA :raspberry:

Whats wrong with your foz?

Big shakes when accelerating 60kmph or more...

Wheel balance and alignment didn't fix it, I'm thinking driveline or something like engine mounts/bushes. Due for 176k service and I'm so perplexed on what it could be that for the first time since my subie warranty expired I'm taking it back to a subaru dealer for a treat.

Handbrake not over tightened is it? Mud on wheels?

Not sure about handbrake as car has been fine, rotated wheels couple of weeks ago, done a lot of kilometers since then and car felt fine. Last week home from work it started, first thing was full mag, tyre, rotor, strut clean then wheel balance, crossed my fingers.

Never felt any symptoms like this before :(

I was thinking along the same lines about mud or dirt etc.
Just another thought, you haven't thrown or lost a wheel weight at all ?

But then again, if you've had a balance done, it probably won't be that either.

Well its been balanced so that rules out a weight falling off. Bent rim? Ive done this in my foz and it was undrivable at 110km/hr due to wheel vibrations/wobble. Or warped rotors.

Dead drive shaft(s). Especially if it comes and goes like an oscillation effect. I had this on Ruby Scoo, swapped a shaft or two and the problem was sorted. Not fun to drive down the freeway, a bumpy road was much better. There were times that we had to slow down because it felt like poor Ruby S was going to shake herself to bits, like really bad corrugations do, but we were on a smooth freeway...

All the best,

Bennie

PS, I'm still yet to dig up and scan the early photo of Ruby Scoo when I first got her...

Thats more like it, referring to the 2nd pic. Nothing better than seeing a Forry covered in dirt after a day of fun offroading :ebiggrin:

I'm thinking of getting a 2" lift along with my raised springs...maybe 1" will be enough. Mines a '98 Foz so same body as yours...just not as nice a colour haha ;)

That will be about it for me with the external mods.

Don't think the external snorkel is practical / justifiable in my case.

I recon I can probably lay claim to the 'most' (legal) body mods of any Aus 05 Outback. :lildevil:

  • SubaXtreme sump guard;
  • 2" total lift;
  • Front sports bar;
  • rear swing racks;
Also have:

  • Dual battery system;
  • Accessory wiring to rear luggage area for fridge;
  • CB / GPS unit;
  • 'Half' luggage barrier;
  • Roof basket;
  • 12 pin wiring for camper trailer.
To come:

  • Larger tyres;
  • Rear LSD - maybe a 'locker' if / when available;
  • After market gear box with decent low ratios and front LSD
  • Sway bar disconnects;
  • Narva driving lights;
  • Fan cut-out switch.
All of this reminds me that I should up-date my journal thread! :lol:

That's awesome Barry! Don't think i'ver ever ran across the pictures of your outback. Love how well those bars on the front end go perfectly with the rest of the outback.
