Thanks Venom, I was thinking of replacing the plugs for starters. What plugs do others recommend? I'm using Subaru plgs atm.
I'm using Penrite HPR 10 semi-synthetic 10W-50. Have always liked Penrite and really found it minimised oil consumpion in old beetles and Fords.
Granted, I have the basket on the roof, but un-loaded, still I was getting well in excess of 600km fully loaded, including basket, on the big trip, so don't think the empty basket would account for the loss. However, I guess I do now have the new rear racks with the second spare mounted external.
Will replace the filters and run the cleaner through the engine and see if it makes a difference. Might then take it to a local subi specialist to check out sensors, etc.
