Anyone else done this mission before? Was it difficult? Is there anything i could do b4 hand to make the transition easier?

I know someone who lives near brisbane who will give me temporary accomadaion till i gdet a job etc.

Any good websites to browse for a 4wd (have heard vehicle pricing is severy different between nz and oz) and job websites?

Thanks in advance

Mate of mine is a Kiwi who moved here years ago from Christchurch and was naturalised. Being a mate of course we have to make fun of him somehow- I think you understand! Just ignore all of that stuff and you'll be fine. I know some Kiwis cannot stand Aussie accents so maybe be prepared for that. Welcome anyway and Oz is quite similar to NZ in so many ways. It may not be as shaky but it does have it's own issues too. If it is work you are after WA is booming, but I imagine there is plenty of re-construction work in Qld which requires all manner of work. If you have a 22B by all means bring it over- I'll be the one drooling as you drive by- standing next to everyone else doing the same thing! :)

i currently have a highly modified gc8 (v1) and a 79 leone wag...i dont thin i willbring either with me and will rpolly sell the wrx to have some funds till i get job permantant accomadation.

rent a shipping container and start taking orders for parts, probably pay for your trip!
Daza.

Lol are parts hard to get or something over there?
I think daza means, is for you to do the opposite :iconwink:
Get a container over here (Aust) load it up & take / send it back full of the stuff that we have available.
Many a time, I have heard that us Aussies are spoilt with some of the parts we have available. Front / Rear Bars, raised springs etc :discomonkey: for our Subi's

Trust me Kiwi's are way better off than us, no import restrictions like the pre 89 rule so whatever is imported can be driven on the road & there are lots, the land of the mint $3,000 GTB's & V1/2/3/4 STI's and all the Sepc C's which we can't drive running around everywhere............And that's just the Subi's.

Have a look on Trademe at prices.

I remember going to Rally NZ for the WRC round in 2005. Met up with the NZ WRX Club and Possum Bourne's widow. Their members had a Spec C and a number of 22B's. I was weak at the knees- here are 3 of the photos I found. NZ does pretty well I have to say

Nope, Daza is on the money - get a container over there, fill it with all the good subaru go faster parts, maybe a choice half cut or two and ship it over.

Yes we have a better selection of front and rear bars etc but that's not all there is in the subi world - it's hard to make factory parts but easy to make accessories for the front and rear of these machines.

If I had my way i'd be ordering a late 80's L series RXII coupe - love those things and would love to do one up, cherry red with gold STi rims :D

Cheers

Necro'ing this thread, it looks like i will be aiming to be in AliceSprings by the end of the year, any members there? also what is the best way to buy a cheap dunger leone... or similar?

Regos and such will depend on which state you will be doing it. In NSW, unregistered vehicles require a blue slip from an accredited inspector, proof of ownership, a green slip which is compulsory third party (CTP) insurance and enough money to pay off a large amount of state debt. This also applies to cars from interstate wanting NSW rego. With a NSW registered car, you will need proof of ownership and lots of money. Stamp duty in both cases is 3% of the purchase price or market value, whatever is the higher. You will also need photo ID. Make sure you fill in a Notice of Disposal when selling it so you don't get the new car owners speeding/red light tickets. Renewing rego on existing NSW registered cars over 5 years requires pink and green slips, green slips only if under 5 years old. Pink slip is a roadworthy certificate, now often done on line by the inspector. Shop around for green slips, prices vary enormously. Pink and blue slips are at set rates by the government. Pink slips are like warrant of fitness in Kiwispeak

My understanding is that cars, any car, is far more expensive in NZ than in Oz. Is that still the case?

Check your prices carefully before committing to doing anything rash, like shipping a car from NZ to Oz ... :iconwink:.

Otherwise, Welcome!

My niece and her hubby live in The Alice, so you might meet me there one day. I will let you know in advance so that you can leave town for the period of my visit ... :rotfl:.

i dont blame you for wanting to come over to this beatifull country of ours
i went to NZ a year and a half ago for the first time. i was in christchurch and the second day of being there the earth quake hit (the one in febuary), nearly died and lost my family
so i dont plan on ever going back hahahaha

Yeah, I feel for the poor Kiwis, they've certainly had a poor deal of late.
