Filters?

Its looks like you've got 2 airboxes, but have they both got a filter? That one at the back is a ******* to get to, so maybe someone put the second box on for easier access.

Yeah, both have filters & both are real a-holes to get into. Have to pretty much undo all the hoses connecting them to get one or the other off. Must be an emissions thing. I thing i'm goin to take out the side one before our trip next week. Should help with performance/ gas mileage at the higher altitudes.

The one on the side looks pretty easy to access so if you were gonna remove one i'd remove the filter at the back. I'm not sure if it would affect the air flow meter or anything else though.

Hah! So i took out the one in the back when i went home for lunch today... Went to crank it up to come back to the office & the forry started up, sputtered for a second then died. Tried it again and the same thing. I guess they just want me to have poor performance.
The crappy thing about this is that it's pretty dirty & the only replacement filter for that i can find is a damn K&N costing $50 :furious:

Which brings me to my next question. Anybody have any good online sources to where you can get that back replacement filter, that's not a performance one?

It's hard to see where the AFM is but you MUST have a filter before it, I'd be getting rid of the one near the firewall if anything but they are not that restrictive and a good safety feature.

It must be a US emissions thing, have any of you looked at HK foam panel filters? that's what I'm running in my Legacy/Liberty.
