Mountain Biking

I've never ridden a 'low-normal' in any real situations, I really do like the way they work and I think I could get used to riding one fairly easily.

But, in my former life as a mechanic, they would frustrate the hell out of me.:eviltoyou: They are few and far between enough that after doing things one way for 20 years it would take me twice as long to adjust one with their bassackwardsness.:raspberry:

Just noticed this thread. I'm a pretty keen mtber. This is my pride and joy; GF Roscoe 3

That's insane! Pretty Awesome though!

After a one year struggle with an injury, I was forced to sell my bike.
I lost control in my left hand an missing a tendon, so I was riding without confidence... But I still miss it :(

Dang, sorry to hear that. Is there a chance you will recover enough to ride again eventually??? Perhaps it's time for a no brakes fixed gear.:iconwink: Is it a matter of not being able to brake, or can you just not hold onto the handle bars???

Sorry to hear that mate. Looked like a damn nice bike too! (although I'm biased towards specialized haha) It'd be pretty hard to give it all up...

i just can say that this is totally new for me, but thanks... cheers, sally

Just need to adapt mate...........

This is my right hand and I'm right handed. I ride technical all mountain terrain on the mountain bike, I ride a dirt bike (which is how I injured it), kayak, fish, play guitar, everything I used to do - some things are still a little different and difficult but I manage.
Took the tendon off at my elbow, lost my thumb below the knuckle, damage to my wrist etc.
Keep plugging and you'll adapt to pretty much anything.

I know and I tried but I'm still chicken maybe due to my other injuries
bruised cervical vertebra, bruised and a cracked rib...and a f@cked up 1st operation

Made by a friend's, friend for a contest to win an HD video camera and helmet mount. I'm pretty sure it won, but I cant find the final results???

Went to watch a good friend race today at Lance Armstrong's ranch, which i was surprised to find out is only about 20 mins away outside Dripping Springs. He calls it "Mellow Johnny's Classic" & had about 400 riders out there today in many diff classes. The trail is about 8.5 miles over some serious terrain! We met riders from all over Cali, Colorado, Louisiana, Tennessee, & Texas. Awesome event.

One tired fella who just made it up the huge hill.

The trail winding around another hill before hitting the one we were on. You can see the riders in the distance.

Lance's "ranch house" in the distance.. Needless to say it was off limits to us.

Awesome!!! So, was Lance there at all???

I should have a 'new' mtn. bike project to post about soon...

Im not sure if he was or not. The pro's rode the day before & he had quite a few cars out at his place, so i'm going to have it in my mind that he was ;)

I also picked up a specialized mountain bike at a garage sale afterwards. It's seen some trails, but for $5, i couldn't pass it up. It's def. going to be needing a tune up! I'll post some pictures up to see any recommendations from you guys. I used to have a Giant Yukon (a good starter off road bike), but had to sell it when i moved out here about 6yrs ago. Going yesterday made me really want to get back into riding.

Awesome video carl! You can tell that must have taken a ton of work to make happen

After doin a bit of poking around on the bike, looks like it is about a 2003 model year Specialized Hardrock. The frame is solid, forks are still good, but rusted. I'll end up replacing a good bit of the parts, but if i can still come out with a descent bike & end up under $150, i'll be happy (not that i'll be able to complain for a bike i paid $5 on. Paint the frame a flat black color, & get new stickers. I've done some looking around online & if anyone knows any good places to get parts at a good price, lemme know!

^^ I too have a Specialized Hardrock that I paid next to nothing for. (actually, I didn't pay a dime for the bike, just $80 for the upgraded wheels, and another $50 for an upgraded Tora 302 fork). Gotta love friends who never ride, but buy bikes like they're going out of style. :)
