I finally got all my lights and wiring all setup and how I like it. :woohoo: I just hooked up two Hella FF1000s on the roof basket and I've had the Hella 500s on the grill for a while. I was plagued by the shorting of fuses on the lights but I finally broke down and redid the entire setup and it works. They are bright as hell. The lights i think actually look good on the front of the basket even though alot of people say lights on the roof look too much like mickey mouse ears. Its amazing how much brighter the hella ff1000s are than the ff500s even though they have the same wattage bulb. I'm impressed with the alternator on the forester, even with 8 lights on, they never dim when the stereo hits hard. I'm sorry for lacking a day pic I'll work on it. Just thought I'd share it with ya

look out the next person who flashes there lights at you! they wont be able to see for a week

Heres the day light update on my 03 XS. The only thing its missing is a skid plate to get it where I really want it. My most recent project was to paint the rims since my center caps where flaking off. I finally bought my grabbers at2s which have soo much grip. Unfortunately my right rear grabber has already caught on the mud guard so I've had to do some tripping already. Over the summer I picked up the Yakima loadwarrior roof basket for dirt cheap, I love craigslist. I also added the hella 1000's on the front of the basket which thanks to an amazon miss price got for 17 dollars . On the back of the basket I added some cheap walmart fogs as utility lights for mainly camping. One of the fogs has already died, guess you get what you pay for. I also added the cobra CB radio and a firestick antenna on the basket which works very well except for a little interference from the stereo. I used a trailer wiring kit for the lights on the basket so I could quick disconnect the basket which has already come in handy. I figured I would update you guys on my forester since I've been working on it!

Good work, thatguy! Love it all around. Dark wheels definitely work nicely with off-road tires. And with the grabbers, roof basket, and spotties. Excellent!

details on the light setup? and how did you mount the front hella's

I just got back from my first "offroading" since putting on the grabbers and man all I have to say is amazing. The grabbers were unstoppable on loose gravel and rocks. All I need to do is test them out in the mud to complete the test period. The inch of lift I got from them also helps a ton with getting over stuff but it needs MORE!

Thats great to hear, sounds like your very happy with the new boots (tyres) & made the right choice.

Have you got any pics of your adventure ?

Regards

I want to know the same thing they look sweet, like they are ment to be there

Here's a close up pic of them, its just two pieces of 1/8" in aluminum bar. One I bent into an L then I bolted it to a flat piece on top. It holds well but I think I'm shaking my grill loose after a year of having them on there. I just need to reinforce it at some point. Hope this helps and sorry for it taking so long

Good gawd, you could rent your vehicle out as a mobile paint removing unit! "Just turn on all lights and watch the paint blister!" Jokes aside, what make is your roof cage?

Hey Mate,
How and where did you run the wiring for the basket lights?
Looks wicked!
