Great to see this thread revived! I lucked out an found a reasonable deal on an LL Bean Edition Forester. The lower body cladding is painted dark gray, which contrasts nicely with the green color of the rest of the body.
If and when I get the lower body cladding scratched up, I will likely still apply Blue Fox's spray can method. However, right now, the lift kit (on its way to me from Primitive) and a bash plate (still deciding) are of higher priority.
