Awesome price on Yoko Geolander AT-S

With the rear rack I can keep the daily spare on the back, but #6 needs to be in the well on tour.
I think it would be preferable to not have the spare deflated to 4psi long term, but 10psi prob OK.

Yes the 215/65/16 will fit, however, the largest you can fit legally is 215/60/16. Thats in NSW, not sure about Melbourne though. Best to check with the Vic RTA about that.

If you're worried about the legallities though, these Geo AT/S do also come in the 215/60/16 size too.

Mr Turbo

That's one thing that makes me greatful for our laws not being so influenced by european countries. I know some states it varies, but here i believe we can put up to 42" tires on our vehicles legally for the street. Height limit i believe is around 15'.
They never had "muscle cars" and "big trucks" to give them that free wheelin' spirit that Americans and Aussies have. I had a friend in highschool who came over from England my junior year, he said that was the thing he envied most about us & our culture was the idea of vehicles like that. While i didn't grow up in the 60's and 70's, i sure wish i would've been there to witness it! Makes me want to go watch Dazed and Confused

Hey guys - I made some enquiries with tirerack and their shipping cost to Melbourne Aust. is $US299. So for 5 tires, plus shipping you'd be in around $US800. Not bad considering pezimm paid $1500 for his 215/60R17's.

Crikeys, that works out cheaper than anything here.

So, US$100 per tyre x 4 = $400 (todays exchange rate is almost on par) - plus add US$299 for postage.

That's $699 shipped!

Am I hallucinating?

Looks like tire rack could be tapping into an untapped resource! 'bout to be doin some bidness down under! Still cant believe how much it costs down there.

You have to add the cost of fitting and balancing,- but still heaps cheaper. No hallucinating, as I said, guys in our club have been doing this for some time.

Wouldn't you have to pay import duty when the tires enter Australia?!? Make sure to check with customs before doing this. Otherwise they may ruin your perfectly good savings. :|

hmmmm - fair call.

I wonder if anyone else who has already done this knows the deal???

I think that if it is below $1000 there is no duty or GST. Not certain of this though.

Hey all - thread resurrection!!

I've just contacted Tirerack again and it seems that they've recently changed their policy. They no longer ship Yokohama's out of the US!!! really! is that about?

Just thought I'd give an update.

Skender.
