Phiz's 99 Outback

Alright, it just occurred to me I haven't posted anything about my Outback on this forum!
Well, here is the little story.
Bought from Pickles Storm Damage Auctions I picked up this 99 Outback full of dents for $2250. Flew down to Melbourne and drove it home under a permit. Due to living in SA I needed to fix the damage to get it registered. So I started work on patching the dents and repairing the broken windows.

The rear right shocker was leaking oil, so I bought some KYB Excel G's (which are the same as GR2's).

Here is what the paint turned out like.. Well it looks a fair bit better in the photos, actually can still see dips and sanding scratches under the paint but it is good enough for me and it was my very first attempt at body work and painting.

Looks good Phiz but isn't that illegal to modify a tow bar with gettign it certified?

Really? Bugger the cops, the one on mine is shaped like a banana so when I find a replacement it'll be getting a tube or flat bar going back to the wheel well and/or diff mount/bash plate for strength as the one on it now bent after one or two snatches.

I couldn't care less about the cops. More so about insurance. If I crash my car or somehting happens I would rather get my money than them saying get stuffed because you lifted your car 8" instead of the legal 2" or what not.

Phizinza, couldn't you put 1" or 2 of lift in to help with the front and rear bumper? I found 2" made a huge difference with my Forester.

Also how did you get all the dents out of your OB when you got it? Im guessing you did it yourself

Yes I did patch it up and respray myself. First time doing body work so the results show a little...

It would help, but I'm going to build myself a bar for the front anyhow.

For the insurance... They would not figure out that the tow bar is modified. And it wouldn't cause an accident, I mean it is stronger then a standard bar and I am never going to over weight the tow bar on this car.
