Once again it was time for new rubber to shred..
I had worn my Yokohama geolander AT+2 down to 6/32" in 5yrs / 50,000 miles of abuse.
My first option was an updated yoko geolander AT-s . However, the tire shop said they were on national backorder ACK..!

They offered me a set of BFG A/T's at the same price...
Too boot a nice rebate...( I also purchased a 5th spare).

First impressions .. they look tough , silent on the road as the geo's had a slight roar..

I tried them out on dry, wet pavement They drifted nicely with confidence..

On gravel they handled like a rally tire..I drifted with total control...:lildevil:

On trails they performed great in dirt/rocks/tree ruts

Mud they performed ok in greasy stuff.

In snow they suprised me and did very well..I broke trail in 3' plus...

Sand is yet to be tested but soon...

Bonuses are the 3ply sidewalls, mtn/snowflake rating

Don't bother with yoko's again..

Yes, I like BFG's; had a couple of sets on the Foz and swapped out the OEMs on the Triton for BFGs as soon as I got it.

The BFG A/T tires are clearly the most popular off-road tire of all times. Even here in West Africa, where the BFG is more expensive than most alternatives, it's still the most popular choice among people looking for longevity and the best off-road performance.

My only wish is that the BFG A/T would come in stock size for Forester drivers (and my Nissan X-trail).

Any idea what the closest size to stock for us they have? does this outback have a small lift on it to accomodate those 215/75s? i know i can get 215/65/16s in with no rub, but dont think the bfg's come that small....

Tyre sizes a question

Most people seem to be using 215/65/R16's. I am looking at a new set. i have currently got Bridgestone Duellers (205/65/R15). my question is, could a 235 or 245/65/R16 fit without rubbing?

Response to previous post

After doing more research on the forum I have decided to get a 215/60R16 tyre. Mainly to preserve my insurance if anything happens. It is just a case of selecting a suitable tyre Brand and Model. People seem fairly happy with Pirelli, Michelin, Yokohama's and Bridgestone. I will keep searching the forum.

Hello to everybody, any option is in 215 65 R16 continental conticross AT, mayby you can find in Australia, that tyre works very well and also it has a good endurance, It is a 100% usefull in all terrains, the noise in highway's is very small, for off road is a good compromise, for sure is not agresive like BF's but te grip is no bad, the negative point is the price, is not a cheaper tyre, regards (+- 125 Euros)

bought my BFGs 215/70/16s last month. Subaru should have sold the Forester with these originally. I love them, and I think they will hold up great for yrs.
