Rally's MY04 Forrie- Poverty Pack special

Purchased second hand. Rear diff and instrument cluster replaced under warranty. First change was to fit CB UHF GME radio. Car has externally mounted windscreen aerial bracket. Just purchased set of new KYB shock absorbers- the originals have had it- will install when they arrive. Next step is to replace standard steel rims with MY99 WRX rims. Then sump guard and driving lights.

No, nothing to do with wiring. They are engaged individually

It was nothing to do with wiring. The unlocked centre diff allowed the rear diff to disengage

There is no mechanical reason why the centre diff has any effect on a rear diff locker. It simply doesn't work that way. The rear diff actuator controls the locking, the centre diff has nothing to do with it. I'm pretty sure it's in the wiring

You are arguing against the great man (and no, of course that isn’t me) who has seen how the rear diff lock mechanism works and why an unlocked centre diff will allow the mechanism to disengage mechanically but not electrically. When he tested the car with the faulty dccd controller, he noted how the rear diff would disengage and re-engage and suspected based on his knowledge of both diffs that it was because the centre diff was not locked. The fact that replacing the dccd controller when all else remained the same proves it is not an electrical wiring issue but a mechanical one.

Seems strange to me too that if the center diff (DCCD) is not locked the rear diff doesn't lock properly as they are wired separately.

Oh, well, most important is that it now works ! And summer is soon ending so we will get a video ?!

You are thinking electrically, not mechanically. Will post a video soon.

Hmmmm !

Could you explain how it mechanically disengages while it is electrically engaged ? I don't understand.

I think we need to wait for the video.

Perhaps it's to do with the variable distribution of torque from front to back when the centre is unlocked.

I will check with friends with 4wds with rear lockers to see if their locker disengages with the centre diff unlocked. IMO it shouldn't do this. I could be wrong. Perhaps during the modification process something is out of adjustment?

Good question. I don’t know. Will ask.

First attempt both diffs open. Then both diffs locked.

Thanks Rally !

Would be nice to see center open and rear locked as well.

And diff cam angles. Do harder stuff.

There won’t be videos of the centre open and the rear locked, as this can damage the rear diff potentially.

But more comparison open diff and locked would be great. Like places open diff cant go and lock can

I am going on a trip soon, I just need someone to video it
