subaXtreme tow hooks are on!

Eden: Where are your old camera, new iPhone 4, and SubaX tow-hook pictures? :raz:

I'm jealous of both, as I am still on a 1G iPhone and my Fozza never got decent tow-hooks, only a bash plate and off-road tyres.

My Land Rover ripped the front recovery points off my Forester while towing me home after I stripped my clutch in the middle of no where.

There would be no way for me to fit these things now :(

pics for the NAYsayers and non believers :poke:

Brilliant, eden! Thanks for posting the pictures.

Now I wait for a report of your first real-life experience using the tow hooks. Certainly hope it's for you towing someone else, rather then someone having to tow you out of trouble. :raz:

Here's the holes it tore in the chassis where the recovery points bolt onto.

And here's the engine being pulled out so we could change the clutch. Was easier this way than dropping the tranny.

...and this is my other beast (just sold) which tore the points off
The greatest most reliable and capable car I've ever owned.

Land Rover 1, Subaru 0.. ooopsy..
I'd say you might have placed the tow hook in weak place i dunno.. or other hand that area could be wrong area for the hook to be on.

Cheers

they were the stock tow points on the car.

Oh and my landy was a 1973 lwb series III with a holden 202 dropped in and high speed gearset in the diffs so it could do highway speeds. I so badly wish I didnt sell her, but I dont have the time to give her the rebuild it deserved.

Have so many good memories in that beast.

sure did. That whole experience with the trip tought me to stop offroading my Subaru

Have a turbo diesel Hilux Surf now that does all that stuff

So does this recovery point use existing mount points or are they new beefed up points? If they're the existing mount points I would say that the new recovery hook could do the same thing as Cluster Fock's did...

After saying that, for the record I have not seen an outback's recovery point mounting design.

Cheers

Bennie
