Nice place though. I rocked up there in my GT Falcon, and waited for friends to do some shopping and parked on the street, engine off. An old EH Holden with no exhaust drove by and went into a workshop. A few minutes later Plod and 3 of his mates arrive, wanting to know why MY car was making so much noise. I told him it was another car in the workshop, and you could see he did not believe me. Just as he was about to get stuck into me, the EH started up and and that was that. Not a happy plod- he felt like a bit of a dill after that. I often wondered what would have happened if they did not start up the EH almost on cue.

The other funny thing that happened was that when we commented to the servo owner that Thargomindah was a nice small town and we really liked it, she answered back with, "It's bigger than Betoota!" Have you been to Betoota? If so, you realise that this would not be hard!

Rally, I've been to Thargomindah, you are still to fast to pass for a local! ;)

No, closest I would've been was Jundah, from where we headed south to Quilpie. Had thought of heading west from Jundah to Cordillo Downs, but decided to keep the fuel stops closer together.
Probably the smallest actual town we went through was Stonehenge. Nice little pub and fuel stop.
(Of course just the pub and fuel at Nocundra, but that is not a 'town'. Likewise Innamincka is more a 'tourist base' than a town.)
In the end the roads north from Innamincka to Cordillo Downs were closed, so didn't get to do the Birdsville side trip. That will be for 'next time'.

I wish MarkyD was available to help out. Network Solutions can't seem to get their hosting act together.:yell:

I wish I could afford to donate enough funds to make this site run like a 2.5 with 550 HP :lildevil:

Bloke in our club has about that much horsepower at the wheels of his STI. From what I hear, you'll be wishing for an awful lot of money! But geez the site would be quick.

Wait 5 minutes then. Then you might have to wait another 5! :)

I've been here several times over the last couple of days. All seems to be back to normal as far as the speed goes.

Not Down Under on this side of the pond in Australia it hasn't been.
Last night & again today it's been quite slow, unfortunately.
