So here is a write up of our day trip to Bunyip State park on Sunday the 10th of march 2013.

I will keep the writing to a minimum as there are heaps of pictures and videos which will probably say more that words anyway.

We started the day meeting at the puffing billy station in Gembrook. Our party consisted of three. Myself in a first gen forester all standard except for a 50mm strut lift and a winch, dcoutback in his pretty much stock 2008 outback and NachaLuva in his first gen forester.

The day was great fun with the tracks we attempted being;

Anderson Track
Little Bunyip Track
Some unnamed tracks along the powerlines through the park.
Bullock Link Rd
Nash Creek Look track

All of these tracks were great fun with lots of challenges. Bullock Link rd (or at least we think it was that road was far to difficult for a Subaru without lots of track modifications but I still had a go as you will see in the coming videos and pics. My winch could have got me through if I was desperate but in the end I chickened out and had to use my winch to get myself out safely without further risk of rolling the car.

I will be uploading videos soon however slow internet means it might be a while...

Some Videos I have uploaded so far. Not sure if they are in the correct order but oh well;

awesome vids guys :cool:

can really see in the vids that the outback needs both lower low range and better approach angles. but did really well non the less.

a lot of 3 wheel action in those last couple of vids and plenty of clutch work :iconwink:

dedman do you have a sump guard?

looks like a great trip, i really have to get my donkey into gear and get my subie up to scratch! :lol:

The last few vids, Subi rock climbing 1, 2, & 3 are awesome :raz:

That 3 wheel action must have have given you a real adrenalin rush I'm guessing :biggrin:

Sure did. Things kept on getting worse and worse after those vids and eventually I had to get my winch out to level things up. Was super glad I had the winch! Again it worked flawlessly :)

Real offroadin'

Great videos y'all! My wife wants me to get some of those short shorts like y'all wear..:lol:
The power lines and Bullock Link Rd seems like a serious test it, I thought we were gonna see some body damage a couple of times. Nice driving. Next time show us the winching!

The 1st vid, slowmo, was awesome, thanks for posting all of them.

Geez. looks like a crying shame I missed this! Me and Bunyip didn't exactly end on good terms last time I was out there, but I'd love to head back some day and show 'em who's boss!

Great vids Alex! I like the one coming down that really deeply rutted track, uber slow. Note at 1:35 I slid of the rock & landed on the sump guard...not a dent, barely a scratch! :biggrin:

I was really impressed with how easily you did many of the tracks on full pressure tyres where I struggled aired down. Esp that powerlines track I had so much trouble with! :shake:

Just shows what can be done with open diffs & minimal lift given some driver skill and picking the right line :monkeydance:

Many thanks for a great day...

I love those vids, awesome, and I'm quite surprised that you don't have much diagonal spin in the last 3 vids with 2 open diffs.

Yeah thats still the foresters main issues. Please tell me more about your front diff and that locker your footer talks about. I thought there wasnt any lockers available...

Yep I noticed that too....were you driving through the brakes? I'd love to know how you were doing that in a manual, I'm guessing "heel & toe"?

I was very impressed with your driving :lildevil:

Nah wasnt doing that. Because the car was on such a ridiculous angle (videos dont do it justice) both back wheel had heaps of weight on them limiting diagonal spin. If anything the uphill rear wheel was often spinning. If i had managed to get further so the car was more level again I think you would have found that there would have been heaps of diagonal spin
It did surprise me how well it did though.
