Taza's Foz 2.0

Well I thought I better start again as it's like a new car since the last journal (here: https://www.offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=2887 - RB).
Modifications have been severe! :lildevil: Damage has been extreme :surprised: Repairs have been expensive and tiresome  After all she and I have been through over the past 3 years and 100+k km. You could say it's really been an adventure  With many more to come

Well I'll try and keep this updated.
Got a 1200km trip this weekend. Will be my first proper long run with the new EJ25. Going up north to pick up my boat and bring it back to Perth. I'll be keen to see how she tows on a long run!

Safe trip, Taza.

I will be interested in your fuel consumption in each direction ... :iconwink:

Mate, it looks like you were doing better with the foz as stock if you're looking at the first two photos :poke:

You've done well for such a short ride thus far! I'm sure there's only more to come out of your foz if you look after it - and if Paul sticks around

Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see you over here someday, then I'll show you some real tracks ;)

Cheers

Bennie

Thanks guys RB and Bennie.
Haha in the 2nd photo I actually drove up it stopped then took off again to see how far I could get

Yeah I've had her for just over 3 years now, there have been both good and bad times. I'm now at the point where nearly everything mechanical has been replaced and it is now a very reliable, comfortable vehicle. So I see no need to get rid of it. The body is in better than average condition for a vehicle of it's age, no major dents just a few scratches and some faded paint...
Can't wait for the real tracks over there, I'm yet to actually try some of the harder ones WA offers as the foz has never been upto the task.

good to see your Foz back on the road
where did you score the Audi rims?

The Audi centre caps look nice, just need to cover up the logo lol :iconwink:

All your mods are coming along great Taza, it sure would be nice to drive

Love the "Damage" section.

You certainly have had your ups and downs with this car, great to hear it is finally at a point that your happy with.

Back in Perth after doing the 1100km weekend trip.
Was interesting for sure, good to get out of Perth even though it went fast.

Averaged 10l per 100km on the way up over a whole tank. This was sitting on the speed limit(110km/hr) doing 3200rpm and driving into very strong oncoming winds and rain. Not too bad I guess :)
On the way back I used 13l per 100km and used most of a tank for 450km with the boat on the back. I found that sitting on 100km/hr in 5th(2900rpm) the foz struggles to maintain speed(driving up hills and into oncoming wind again). I ended up sitting on 110-120km/hr as it was doing between 3200-3500rpm thus the engine having more available torque. It didn't have to work as hard both on the flat and up hills.
I think if my piggyback computer was tuned better and I was running stock size wheels/tyres if would of been pretty effortless :iconwink:
Over all towed it easily considering the car isn't a full on power house like a 6cylinder or turbo engine :raspberry:

He'd just get tired of the power with that as well...maybe bolt 2 EJ25s together to make an H8, twin turbos for highway hooning & supercharged for low down torque :lildevil::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Why stop there
Just go the whole hog & whack the Bugatti Veyron 8.0L W16 in it & be done with it :twisted::twisted:
You'd have plenty of torque on tap with that one

But getting back on topic, glad to hear you had a great trip & a safe one :raz:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Well the sad thing is I am planning my next engine  :poke:
EJ25 turbo like what Mr T has but with a dual range gearbox, etc... or EE20 boxer diesel. I don't know if it's even possible to have a boxer diesel behind a dual range subaru box.
