Have just fitted my third set of Toyos on my 03 Forester. Have had two sets of MP3's before, and they have worked really well on the backroads and gravel tracks of WA, as well as providing excellent cornering grip without rounding off the tyre edge. But....

The MP3 has been superseded, now the MP4 is out. Comparing the two, the new MP4 is certainly a lot less chunkier than the MP3, with much narrower, parallel stipes (rather than the wide, tapered stipes of the MP3). Sidewall still seems good and stiff, but I am concerned that the off-road performance will be a bit compromised (I know it is supposed to be a road tyre, but they seem to go OK off-road in WA, and are a hell of a lot cheaper than an AT tyre, as well as being pretty tear-resistant). They used to shed pebbles and mud quite well - I am not so sure the new ones will.

Given that I know quite a few people use/have used the MP3's on their Foresters, I will let you know if the MP4's are as good.
