Webcam info.

My mate and i were thinking of setting up a webcam link to have a chat with the new Logitech Vid software which looks really simple and i was wondering how this sort of setup impacts on your broadband plan. I have an 'unlimited' plan but he is on a 2gig plan.
Anyone using these that could advise?

I use webcam over Skype and MSN messanger occassionally. It will hit your connection pretty hard. As for how long you will get with 2gig - it depends on a many variables but you should still get several hours out of it. Great way of keeping in touch with far-flung friends and family.

I did ring the telstra tech people and was advised that using a webcam does not use any of the allowance. I asked her to confirm this and she did. I find this a bit strange though. The Logitech info line is bloody useless. Just can't get through.

Mmm - wierd that they say it won't use up your quota.

Most providers allow you to track your usage during the month though. I guess your mate will just need to keep an eye on it that way to be certain.
