Hmm - it's been a while since I posted anything here - but something has come up and I hope someone can help me with this.

The air-con compressor in my ancient OB (2002 Premium manual I think) has failed and needs to be replaced. The mechanics tell me it has seized. They also tell me that a replacement would cost anywhere from $1000 for a recon unit to nearly $2000 for a new Subaru part. Because of the age of the car I'm inclined to get a good used or refurbished unit, so I'm after advice about where to look. The interwebs has them from about $700 for a refurb unit.

So - what is your considered advice? Do you know of a reliable Suby wrecker that might have one?

There's a guy in 88 Levanswell Road, Moorabbin 9555-9333 who does this kind of stuff.

He did a good job on my d/s window/door switch panel when it stopped working.

The air compressor of my 2005 MY06 Forester seized (from my fault) last year, and it costed me about $1400 (or less from my memory) including regasing to put in a new compressor, but it was last year for a Forester and in WA?
