I shall probably need to sell my trusty old Forester sometime this year, 2025.
I would appreciate serious suggestions as to how much it is worth. Obviously to me probably much more than to the market.
It has had one owner, me, since new in July 2002 so is an MY03 SG. Red Blue Mica colour. Like its owner the bodywork is tired, a bit shabby and a bit sunburned in places and has a few wrinkles and pinstripes but none too bad or deep, mainly the dreaded shopping centre parking lot variety. Never been in an accident or drowned. Nil rust in body. The motor, although having clocked 387000 (mainly highway) kms is very good and burns negligible oil. It has been regularly serviced at least at every 10000 kms and oil and filter change every 5/6000kms over the past 10 years. It has recently, at 385850 kms, had a major ($$$$) service where the heads were removed and fully reconditioned, new complete upper engine gaskets fitted, new clutch assembly, thrust and spigot bearings and fork, flywheel machined, rear main engine oil seal, 400000km timing belt kit change and install, thermostat, a couple of engine mounts, new coolant, oil filter and change, right hand rear wheel bearing.
It has been lifted 40mm, SubaXtreme kit, King Springs all round, SubaXtreme front bar with 3 (very) old working, 100 watt, QI driving lights hard wired via switch into high beam, rear bar with padlocked spare wheel and jerry can holders, Sumpguard, rear diff breather exiting through a high mount petrol filter, SubaXtreme 1.59 low range, wired for a second battery, and comes with 6 215X65X16 Bridgestone 697 duellers with about 40% tread left. All 6 wheels and tyres have been rotated every 5/6000 kms so are very evenly worn. Also has original steel wheel disc with no tyre fitted. Has spacer strut fitted between rear suspension towers. Subaru roof racks attached and a 460 litre roof luggage pod included.
Has been an excellent, reliable and versatile vehicle. Traversed the Simpson 4 times, Cape York once, more or less around Australia/Tasmania a number of times and has performed very well and never let me down. The modifications have turned it into a very versatile unit, capable of doing everything I have asked it to even, as my Avatar shows, rescuing Toyotas on Fraser Island when required.
Obviously it is still very capable and too good to scrap so at this stage I am trying to ascertain a realistic asking price.

All I can suggest is to check out car sale ads and the red book value - or whatever it's called.
