Pisgah Fall Meet '09 14 & 15 Nov. Western NC (Canceled)

Note; two Days!!!

First day, Sat. standard gravel and tarmac options. Sunday, off-road Brown Mountain OHV Park.:cool:

Going to try and mix it up a little. For those that have attended in the past, we will probably have a different meeting point, same time 10:00am, and do some different roads. I haven't figured that out exactly just yet, but I'll be working on that soon. We will attempt lunch at the Pisgah Inn, but that will depend on the number of attendees and how busy the restaurant is. Tough call during leaf season, we should probably be prepared for either that or picnic. End point will be Graveyard Fields, awesome place and be ready for just a little bit of hiking.

Brown Mountain (yes, this is a different link, trip report, than the one above) will be about an hour to the East of Asheville. Stock ride height Foresters should have no problem. A sump guard/skid plate wouldn't hurt, but I dont think it will be nesasary either. Depending on interest and where folks are staying we'll have to chose a meet point at a later time, but we should probably meet at 9:00am to get there and be able to enjoy our time. Plan on 11mi. of trail running.

Alright, open for questions and comments.:) I'm looking for ward to it.

:woohoo:count me in!!! I looked at the map of the ohv:

We'll be glad to have you!!! :bcool:Have a look here; https://ncnatural.com/NCUSFS/Pisgah/pisgdst.html You might be able to find the camping info you need, might take a little digging. We'll probably meet up either in Bent Creek or the North Mills River area. If you want primitive free camping somewhere along 1206 would probably be best as close to North Mills as possible.

already posted on sf.org but anyhow, I'll probably mix camping and motel during the trip depending on weather(too short of a trip to camp in cold and rainy weather ) I'll follow your posts until then. gonna be awesome!

Meet Point Established!!!

Bent Creek Experimental Forest, Rice Pinnacle Parking Area You'll have to zoom out on the map a bit to see where you might be coming from, but should get you there.:) Near the Parkway and Interstate 26. Hopefully the lot won't be to crowded, but I think we'll be fine in November.

This will give us a longer gravel drive, and if there are any tarmac drivers, it will be a straight shot up the Parkway.

I'm ready!!!

I'm afraid we're probably going to miss the best of the leaves though, I think this weekend and probably next are the 'peak', it was absolutely gorgeous out there. Of course, I forgot my camera so no pics.

Anyhoo, the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed between A-ville and the Pisgah Inn, so there will be NO tarmac option.

Don't think any pavement pounders are coming, so it shouldn't be a problem.

As far as I know there are only three vehicles anyway, and two of them are Yota's.
