any skiers or snowboarders here? skiing is my #1 reason to live, I've got twin tips, one pair of fat powder twins(4frnt) and buying a pair this fall for park riding(probably line's). planning a big ski roadtrip next winter. destination will depend on my budget and if going alone or with my brothers. either newfoundland, colorado/california, tennessee/nc. but THE trip would be to go all the way up to alaska, but in 2 weeks it would be too short and 3 weeks would mean taking a week without pay so... still thinking about it, and trying to convince my brothers to take some time off work/school to come along, but I'll go alone if I have to. bring the snow!!! summer sucks!

p.s. if wondering why a skier from canada wanna go skiing down south, I'm just curious and always wanted to ski there because everybody goes westcoast and I wanted to go different(nobody goes skiing in tennessee or alabama, sound exotic!). but I'll keep it for a 1 week trip in the future as well as the newfoundland one.

Offroadsubie,

I am both a skier and a boarder. May skiis are Karhu XCD Kinetics, with Viola cable bindings and release mechanisim. Not sure what the board is without looking, as I havent been out on it for a couple of years. I am a volunteer ski patroller at one of the resorts here in Australia, and find it easier to do the job on skiis than the board. It gets used when I have a 'play time'.

We are currently half way through our snow season .

Snow skiing was the main reason for buying my first Subaru 20 years ago.:)

:furious:thanks a lot!! I just spent my day planning my ski roadtrip for next winter with 32celcius outside! I wish I had some spare change to go summer skiing in whistler on the glacier. would be even better to fly to australia or new zealand!! I tried snowboarding, since everybody i know snowboards, but never got used to having my 2 legs stuck together, loll !you've got karhu skis with cable bindings, you're a telemarker?

I tried snow boarding last year with a mate - and without lessons, which would make me one of the slope users that Beigewagon doesn't want to hear about... We had a ball though! I do find the falls from boarding much more "bone crunching" than that of ski's.

Near the end of August we're headed to Hotham, hope its still good skiing - its been pretty good in the last 4 years that I've been, better than at home anyway, all we get here is the coldness that says it should be snowing. There has been a few years with snow that stayed a few days but I can still count them on one hand easily...

I hope to have my EJ in before we head up to the slopes - I love the drive up to Mt Hotham from Harrietsville!

Cheers

Bennie

yeah, my snowboarding brothers had their collarbone and wrist broken and they're expert riders, part of the fun I guess! I've got a few bruises but nothing fractured yet. I'm not doing 1080's anyway and don't plan to, need my arms and legs to drive my big rig and without a job no skiing right?! I'm more of a powder/backcountry rider but like hitting the jumps as well. can't wait to get my park skis, gonna be a lot easier to ride switch and do tricks than my fat twins.

Yes, and a part time boarder. I don't think they could be any more different to ride, but both fun.:monkeydance:
