Hi All,

I am tempted by the Outback Wilderness released in Oz in 2025.

Looking to use it for extended camping trips.

Trying to find a Draw/Bed system that is easy to install and take out.

Any suppliers in Oz?

Regards

John

G'day & Welcome @JJB100

I've never heard of a drawer/bed combination for Subies other than people who make their own setups. They are common in campervans but those are too big to suit a Subie.
I found my ORS drawers in combination with my Columbus Roof top tent a really good combination for extended trips and the rooftop tent hangs from the garage ceiling when not in use.

Kevin,

Thanks.

Think you are right. I have tried to find some info on Drawer/Bed systems on the net but no luck.

Looks like it is a carpentry course for me...

I know there are some "Sleeping in the back" threads over at subaruforester.org and may be some at subaruoutback.org as well ;)

Kevin,

Thanks for the heads up, will have a look.

best things allways are DIY .. its learning and its so much fun .. allways lots info on net these days and even what tools you need what type wood use and such... its rly everything is on net these days..
myself. i would never do permanent fix inside car ... i would do removable only that more hard maybe and need more planing and such...
but if money is not a problem then there are precut kits out there.. i mean i didint know just took me minute to do some search...

then some DIY plans to do yourself , all measured you just cut and put together

its not hard to sit there online and just browse trough hundreds options and ideas and just pick what you think would work for you and maybe copy some ideas from one place then from another and just do your own thing in the end... thats how i do everything ... rly i just look who did what before me and then rethinking how i could do it ...

Scalman,

Thanks...

Yes, I saw the precuts and kits on line, bit expensive.

Also being downloading plans.

Some good videos on YouTube, but mainly USA but still very useful.

Gradually coming round to DIY.

Kevin,

Interested in your setup which looks comprehensive.

How many people travel in the Forester?

Does all the equipment travel with the Forester?

Looks like a two-drawer system and 2 Fridge/Freezers...

Wheel carrier for 2?

What spares list would you recommend?

regards

John

While there was just me on that trip (to Fraser Island - now K'gari) two have travelled in the Forester on extended trips and yes all the gear can fit. For extended trips I usually remove the rear seat squab and fold down the seat backs as that provides two levels of storage.

Yes a two drawer system with fridge slides carrying an Evakool ice-box and an Evakool fridge running as a freezer. I use soft drink bottles of water to freeze and rotate them though the ice-box.

On the rear there is a wheel carrier and a jerry can carrier. Most of the time the jerry carrier is used for water.

I do have a spares list "somewhere" which I will add to this post when found ;)

Some mods on this...

Kevin,

Thanks for the detailed reponse.

This has helped me narrow down what I really will need.
