Some years ago a few ORS members entered a joint buying exercise for medium sized, 50 cm I think, LED light bars. After very useful 7 years service mine has now died. Water ingress being the problem. Could have been a stone cracked cover or inadequate sealing. I have now upgraded to a HardKorr 22 inch dual row bar which is going on the "Palace on Wheels".
I am curious to know how the others purchased at this time have fared.

My lightbar is still working perfectly, fitted July 2015, so nearly 8 y.o.

Can't recall the "brand" (Sunyee), but seems very well made. It has 36 (?) Cree LEDs, 6 at each end are wide angle, and the 24 in the middle are more straight up the road.

Installation thread here:

Interesting gave "old" light bar a good wash out with metho to attempt to remove water after removing clear plastic cover. Then a good squirt with WD 40 followed by more metho and several hours in hot sun. Now works but does not seem as bright. Certainly not as bright as HardKorrwhich has 40 X 5 watt LEDs so not surprising.
I found that neither light would function unless vehicle motor engine was running. Perhaps a safety feature to prevent LEDs overheating in air flow absence.
Old one will now go onto Forester to replace/assist my ancient Halogen driving lights.
Moral of story don`t throw them out immediately. Try and dry and clean first.

Note to above. If removing plastic cover be careful as the outer LEDs are covered by a small plastic(?) lens which just sits in place and could be easily lost as it falls out if light is tilted.
