Can I just replace the struts on my 2001 Liberty wagon with those from same year model Outback? The Outback and Forrester ones seem to have more space for the tires where the 'plate' of the strut that supports the spring is closest the the tire. Car has a 1" Front & 1 1/2" rear lift on it.

Hope that makes sense.

The issue is that with bigger tires fitted there is only about 3-5mm clearance on the front between the tire and 'plate/cup' of the strut. Meaning there is no room for snow chains, and small stones scrape the metal.

Thanks in advance.

So you allready have spacers on struts ? Well then put larger spacers or obk struts. But if your struts are ok still then can just go with spacers up to 5cm should be ok

Yes struts from any BH Outback will give your Liberty a lift plus more tyre clearance, but you will have to remove your spacers. You can do a strut lift or a spacer lift but not both

If you remove spacers and just put obk struts you might just end up with same lift in the end. So depends whats your goal.

@NachaLuva, By 'spacers' do you mean the inserts that sit on top of the struts that provide the 1 & 1 1/2" lift? If so, then Im guessing NachaLuva that saying I cant have both because it will mess up the CVs? Why cant I just put the current spacers on some OB struts and install? Thus solving the tire clearance and keeping ground clearance.

scalman, thanks for the comment. Just putting more spacers wont solve the issue with tyre clearance to the strut, though, will as you suggest give more overall lift.

Thanks in advanee guys.

@PGS100 yes those are lift spacers
As far as the CVs are concerned, it doesn't matter how you gain the lift, the only thing that matters is the amount of lift
Outback struts will give you more tyre clearance 7 also give you about 1.5" lift. The most you can lift most Subarus is 2" front (bit more rear), any more than that is too much for the CVs & suspension bushes
If you want the Outback struts PLUS the lift spacers, then you need to do a full Outback suspension conversion

Do you remember OutFap from MCM? That is a H6 BP Liberty (Legacy) that they did a full Outback suspension conversion on, then added my SubieLiftOz 2" lift kit
