Hey all

Wondering if anyone has any experience / opinions about roof platforms for an SH Forester? I've seen a couple with a RhinoRack platform but both roof rack dealers I asked about that said that they aren't meant for that model so won't be covered under warranty. Also saw another SH with Thule wing bars and a Rola platform. One dealer suggested a Rhino Rack mesh platform which would U-bolt onto my roof bars and is a lot cheaper.

Again, any pros and cons or suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

@Mark Gibson At various times I have used both a mesh basket and a mesh platform. The basket is good because it has sides; the platform is good because it doesn't have sides ;)

Basket is more secure as it has the sides whereas the platform allows you to let a little hang over the edge e.g. a spare wheel. It's also easier to load / unload from the platform because you don't need to lift stuff over the sides as you would with a basket. Where a basket excels is if you want to throw a bunch of firewood up there to carry to camp.
