I have a stock 96 outback with 205/ 70 R15 tires. I want to put a 2 inch lift on it and was curious what is the best tire size for this setup on this year without having to cut any fenders or removing the front bumper. I've done a lot of searching and there's so many tire sizes and it seems most everything after 96 uses a 215/70r15 or larger so I'm not really sure what would work for what I have. This car will not be my daily driver so I'm looking for something that looks a bit aggressive. The only thing that I seen in a smaller size was the geolanders but I'm not sure I'm a fan of those. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

The standard tyre size is just about ideal for your car, Jamez. Footprint is good. Sidewall is ideal. Rim size is ideal. I would not change anything, with or without a lift.

If you currently have steel rims, you would be better off with alloys (and spare ... ), as lower unsprung weight, giving better handling and ride. Get OEM alloys. They are strong. Many (most?) after-market alloys are not very good.

@Jamez,
For what it’s worth, I’m running Geolandar G95As (not sure if they still make that pattern), and I’m pretty happy with them. They’re noisier than I’d like, but they’re a good crossover tyre and it looks like I’m going to get 50,000-60,000 kms out of therm.
