Forester 2008 Forester Clutch Cooked

Hey all,
I’m fairly new to the forum. Have been reading bits and pieces since we just bought a new 2008 Forester.

Unfortunately, on the way home from work just now the clutch went. Dang!
Pushed the clutch in and it didn’t come out, no forward drive, terrible sounds, like grinding from the car, and to top it all off smoke and a bad smell from under the car. Underivable!

Any idea what it might be? I’m in Canberra anyone know a good mechanic in the area?

Found some more (My son had spoken with Techworx about some work but found them to be a little too arrogant.) :

A positive review for Haig Park Service Centre in the end!
Once I towed my Forrie to them they had a quote done by the next day and the clutched fixed by the following. John was exceptionally helpfully along the way and the price was very reasonable in the end - actually significantly less than I expected
