My MY05 XT started to idle high up to 2000rpm, stalls then the CEL 0638 comes on. The CEL then randomly goes away, car can drive fine for a while before problem reappears.
things I did over Xmas break to no effect:
1. cleaned the throttle body connectors with contact cleaner
2. took off intercooler & inspected the TB, both looked clean so I didn't proceed with cleaning them
3. disconnected battery overnight to reset ECU
4. tested the TPS using this method . no problems found with the TPS
5. I've got a new PCV valve but having trouble fidnding where it goes
I've got the car booked in on Jan 20 but not sure what else I can try myself in the meantime
