Outback headlight upgrade

hey all, just wondering where people have gotten new or custom headlights for a gen 3 (2004-2006) subaru outback from. i’m not looking for just a bulb upgrade or anything just the actual housing upgrade as mine are semi broken and dirty and i’m just looking for some fresh clean ones.

Perhaps try a wreckers as I imagine new sets would be very expensive? Even if the units themselves are in good condition but the reflector a bit dull there is a process to heat in the oven, open them up and give them a good polish.

The plastic lens responds well to a harsh cutting polish, followed by a high quality carnauba wax. Repeat every year or so when needed. It's FAR cheaper than even second hand 'new' lenses, which will almost certainly have the same problem. My 2006 Forester headlights come up like new for about 12 months. Then deteriorate again.

Do NOT get the cutting polish on your paintwork or clearcoat.

gonna take the headlights off the car and give this a go, i’ll post results if it turns out well

yeah i know but i’ve gotta do some other repairs to the car so they were coming off anyway
