Another awning question

I am considering installing an awning, either 2 or 2.5 metres, on my Forester. Suggestions, experiences and/or comments please.......

Might have to beef up the suspension on the side you hang it.
Also add one of those tradie ladder holder things onto your roo bar so the front end of it doesn't wobble when you're driving down the road.



Seriously though, Supa-wing seem to have a reasonable reputation on the net. just looking at what they offer, this one looks pretty neat: but pricey.

Looks good but neither I nor my trusty steed might be strong enough to lift/carry it. Perfect for my (imagined) Iveco camper though.........

I've got a SupaWing on the Triton and it is awesome but yes way too heavy for the Foz. A great very well-made product and I can recommend them without hesitation. I especially like the rope-less poles; a lot of set-up though.


For the Foz I reckon it's better to have a rear awning; I made one up for the Triton prior to my last desert trip to save weight (which I could move to the Foz) and for when I don't want to set the big one up. I got a canvas pole bag, some sail track and bolted them to the rear roof rack. The awning sides fold in and then it gets rolled up into the pole bag attached to the roof rack. There are places that sell a similar item.

At the other end of the Price scale is the Kings Awning 2 x 2.5 (or 2 x 3) metres with side wall currently $163.95. I coupled one with a 3 x 3 Mesh Floor for an extra $45.00.
