So my latest lockdown project is installing some more fun stuff on my 2014 SJ forester.

Next in line are some electrical control components.

I'm after some advice/suggestions from the collective wisdom about where to install my control boxes.

Basically, I need to find spots to mount one of these (a 6x relay/fuse block) and one of these (a fancy control module).

The relay will be to power accessories like light bars etc, so I was thinking that mounting it in the engine bay somewhere could be the go, but space it *tight*.

The control box is to send the signals to the relay, and needs to be in the cabin. I'd like it to be out of the way, but still accessible.

Any and all thoughts and experiences would be gratefully received.

Cheers

RW

I'm not familiar with the layout of the SJ. When I ran out of room in the Triton engine bay I attached a control module on the underside of the bonnet.

Looking at the picture of that Control Module, could you not mount it where the red arrow is (pic), as long as the bonnet didn't rub on it of course.

P.S. Ignore blurring on front LH lower corner, I removed advertising.

Have you checked for spare slots in the interior fuse box?

Wiring into OEM fittings is so much neater.

Thanks, guys.

I've got some sort of relay on the right side of my engine bay. See attached.

There are 1 or 2 spare fuse locations, but I'm after a centralised fuse and relay box that I can wire in once and then easily add my mods from there. I'm thinking making a little standoff or bracket may be the go to hold the relay box in situ.

In terms of mounting the control box, options as I see it are under the driver or the passenger seat, behind the glove, or onto the rear plastic divider in the boot space. Are there any other spots people usually put these sorts of things?

@Romeowhisky What's under the air intake; maybe some room there? I usually mount internal stuff behind the dash or under the console covers

Behind the dash as in behind the stereo, behind the glove, or somewhere else? I've got my cb unit tucked in behind the glove at the moment. There's probably a bit of space behind the stereo.

I'll check the air intake thx.

Thanks, Kevin. As in above the foot well?

Ok I got this mostly sorted, and may have even taken some low res pics to post up.

Thanks all for the input.
